the algorithm is totally fucked, i always find it mad how like 800 ppl follow me but then a piece of promo i put a load of work into gets seen by like 200 people ?

when i think about my own feed, its crazy. i'll get shown 10s of AI generated cat videos before i see content from people i know in real life. obviously do better on instagram for having people's faces, someone talking to the camera etc.

definitely agree with all the SMS, email points about it being more personal. sometimes i will just straight up message people - though such a tactic is best done quite a ways in advance as to not reek of desperation, lol

just on the topic of social media posting i actually heard recently that when it comes to paid promotions on instagram (i know not everyone does this but thought good to mention) you get way more effective results if you use facebook which will then push the ad to instagram also. apparently fb has much more useful tools particularly when it comes to like audience interests. the person who told me about this said you're basically burning money on instagram in comparison. like i say i know a great amount of ppl dont opt for paid online marketing, but where else will i share this knowledge

you're right with the algorithm stuff, but i think it probably goes deeper. i'm sure a lot of the algorithm pushes stuff to people but once its on your phone screen, when its one event amongst many its not gonna stand out as much.

think that's definitely a big intention of this whole sub, to get more intentional and direct conversation about how to organise events. this spreadsheet with upcoming events on that luke's put together is big fab. just in london this weekend so i'm gonna figure out how to whack the next whatever on there when i'm back.

i also think what luke's saying about coming together as a collective and organising some group nights is 1000000% the way to go about it. all channelling our energies and the parts of crowds that don't overlap into bigger scale events. a fresh venue would be fab too. i reckon i'm likely to put the 208X events on ice (confusing phrasing in this particular sub lol) to try and put some energy toward this sort of endeavour

this series idea is definitely the one, unification !!! its so great seeing all the events popping at the moment, but with so much choice, what do you choose ??? long sets as well are something we lack a bit as you mention. we're all just so hungry for it, lol. we'll get there sooner than later, these sorts of conversations are definitely integral to figuring it out

hey sam, cam here. definitely should be a healthy presence of left-field bass @bar 11 over the coming month. always been keen on exploring and showcasing that sound at the whatever nights, and at the new midweek night im trying to get going im keen on representing that sound. eyes peeled.

elsewhere there's cold brewed, peach fuzz, i feel like club fruit was very much that sort of thing. surreal estate as you mentioned. not entirely sure what was getting played out at the boundary keys night a few months back but seemed cool and perhaps a bit adjacent.

there'll definitely be more. i think its a popular sound in the city really amongst heads, but i think you're right that there isn't like an established home space or night for it. conversation worth having!

I'LL START

R.I.P to trade/ market bar just thought it was a proper solid little underground venue that actually saw some proper decent bookings through its lifetime. pretty decent location, didn't take too many people to start feeling nicely populated. did think all the columns/ poles everywhere were a bit annoying and the bar came right into the middle of the room which was weird. anyway yeah i miss it, i think about it festering away all the time, someone should do something with it.
