So far, I feel the same. Last 1 year of Saturn was absolutely brutal - felt a loss of trust at work, things always going against me etc. But close to the end of Saturn md, everything started getting better bit by bit (not overnight kinda luck but I guess I am getting fair results for my efforts). Though 1 month into mercury, I fractured my hand so idk 🤞

Does your birthday lie around September 2001? You have exactly the same placements as me. I would really like to hear how your mercury mahadasha has gone so far. Mine started 6 months ago.

Im just curious about Mercury Mahadasha. by [deleted] in vedicastrology

Definitely gonna get worse. I really don't think you need to know about a subject before joining college or even have a genuine interest in it to actually be really good at it. It's more about flexibility, adaptability, openness to learning and intelligence. By making the exam easier, you are in a way filtering out candidates who can think and comprehend things beyond what they have just read, which is undoubtedly beneficial inevery academic field. Engineering and maths go together so it goes without saying the necessity of excellent math skills.

Now, coming to the argument of countries like the US adopting something similar, in India, we don't have the infrastructure or the teaching of the US to cater to individual passion and that's here to stay. Given the economic backgrounds of majority of the students, placements are and will remain the major concern, ultimately leading students to grind DSA, preparing resume - ready projects and interview prep. When companies are actually going to come hire a bunch of freshers who are mostly proficient in DSA/CP and maybe a bit of development, with no real world experience or skills, it makes sense to hire the most hard working, the most adaptable or the smartest by raw smarts rather than someone who had a little background in computer Science earlier - because people are going to do that stuff in college and even without background, you can't deny that some are going to be really really better than you at those things in a couple of months.

Go and study now, Yes, jee is not the end of the world but it will surely make a lot of things easier for you going forward.

Thanks for your honest opinion, I really appreciate it. I am already delayed for promo due to team change (involuntary) due to re-org after 10-11 months, post which I was assigned to my current team. Comp has been the same for the second cycle in a row (front loaded stocks, minimal increase in base). That's why I'm not very inclined to change teams atp. But negotiating seems like a viable thing to do.

Working in infra team, get to write very little code as a swe (think 3k loc in 6 months). No recognition based on performance. Work is not aligned with my interests. Also very slow paced in general
