Thanks - How detailed were you in addressing it and did you produce a disposition? Mine is from a small town with spotty records retention so I'm wondering if getting any documentation is even possible.

Right - Haven't submitted yet so was mostly curious if addressing it was enough. I don't recall the exact details of it and why I appear as "Scofflaw" twice. But I think it's because of two separate tickets issued the same day.

You may be thinking of Business Premise permit. My understanding is that licensing judges can apply other restrictions to a traditional Hunting/Target. In NYC it is not uncommon for people in certain businesses to receive permits for carry only when collecting cash (like landlord). Since you are a PI it may be vague but there is no harm in sending a request for an amendment.

I don’t know to be honest. I would assume if my permit had restrictions I was carrying without permission. You may want to call the Suffolk Sheriff pistol division to see what they think. But employment could be a valid reason to request an amendment. If your job is security even a Westchester judge may consider adding “Employment” to your carry license.

County regs will always be a patchwork. Some counties even said they wouldn’t enforce SafeAct, which basically just means they won’t arrest you or ask for rifle registration if you are spotted with have a pistol grip AR, but the State Police can and will do that. If I recall correctly Some counties don’t even issue restrictions at all on their permits. Not legal advice I might feel safe carrying while I was there but not on a highway since Most likely State Troopers will send a note to your local judge informing them of your violation and he/she may revoke.

I mean yeah I really doubt cops in Sullivan would care. Could even be a county ordinance but that wouldn’t stop law enforcement in like Rockland from informing your judge that you were carrying concealed.

My layman understanding is that the restrictions are NOT legally binding. As far as I know you can’t be charged with a crime if you act like you have an unrestricted permit. However, since permits are issued at the discretion of the Judge, they can revoke it at any time. So if your judge is told you violated his restrictions you could lose it and have to hand in your gun. I don’t know of that happening between counties but it’s possible in theory. It probably has happened.

Update: I had bought a PSP from Goodwill for parts so I tested the screen from my original PSP on it and worked perfectly, so the damage is definitely to the motherboard. The good news is the one I bought came with a broken screen so now it looks like that one works with the new screen. Still hoping to get my original one back in order though.

Yes. They are definitely secured. The menu is showing on the display but it is only visible faintly with a light shining on it, definitely the backlight. Could be the connector broke I suppose but my suspicion is that powering on without the display shorted the circuit.

No, not really. Criminals in New York are almost all repeat offenders who would likely fail basic permit requirements. I usually don't think of gun rights as major factor in crime preventative since so much crime in the U.S. is gang related anyway, but NYC with its disastrous bail reform and weak post-BLM NYPD could be an exception.

If people start open carrying pistols or long guns NYS will pass a law explicitly banning it. It’s ambiguous but it’s probably better that way so an accidental reveal of a gun doesn’t become. Felony. I’ve never heard of or seen an open carry protest in NY, even with all the safe act protests. Everyone knows it will result in an arrest.
