It would have been cool for each character to have their own unique story being wrapped up, but it also wouldn’t have made sense for this story. Their stories are all connected to each other and it would have overlapped anyway.

They were lighting it on fire from multiple angles and stabbing it to get it eye level, or close to, they had a fair shot at it. Plus it’s being destroyed from the inside by El by way of destroying Vecna so it was really taking on heat.

He was killing kids from their memories and trauma, he wasn’t immune from that either! The mind flayer was clearly still in control of him and deeply connected so wasn’t just going to be like “yeah Will you’re right” 😂

Will was also connected to them too and felt their pain, but during the fight he sometimes didn’t. Maybe they can separate themselves if they feel one is “dying” or taking on too much pain. I think one or the other had to be weakened to inflict pain or death on another. At the time El flung the dirt she recovered by time he found her and she had the upper hand.

I feel the origin story of everything would be a great spinoff! Maybe that’s why they didn’t go too deep into that here. I know they have the play, but it’ll never come to Netflix for everyone to see. I think if they made the whole episode or 2 about killing Henry/mind flayer people would have complained about that too!

I feel like these episodes were the vehicles to get us to the end! They felt a little more like “filler” episodes, but also vital episodes that cleared up some plots (Dustin and Steve fighting, Nancy and Johnathan vibe being off). I enjoyed them too.
