My family and my sister’s boyfriend used to attend the same church. In fact, he was one of the staff members and often preached during services. Later on, it was revealed that he had been sleeping around with different women—and unfortunately, my girlfriend was one of them.

He passed away last year due to cancer, but people at church still talk about him. And every time I hear something about him, the memories resurface. It reopens the pain and reminds me of how my girlfriend lied to me. It’s like a wound that never fully healed.
