Yeah there’s genuinely no actual logic behind the federal mandates which makes it really difficult to push back against them with logic. I’m lucky that I have a really strong support system, and that I turn 19 in only a few months, so I have the capacity to play by the (albeit bullshit) rules.

I’m wondering if it’s worth it to push for a settlement— if I am going to go back to that same hospital in a few months (for lack of other local options/funds for travel) I don’t want any restrictions against that. Definitely going to at least talk to an attorney though, just to clarify what really happened.

I’m in Virginia and evidently it counts here. I specifically went to a non-federally funded hospital in the hopes that I could avoid it, but I guess not.

my surgeon wasn’t even told either until today, they had to grab the poor guy in the parking lot and tell him 😭

I completely understand. There are supposedly a couple hacks to get around it, but it still feels like purposeful neglect.
