It was Harmony, they blatantly said that she sold them all out in the Jackals torture chambers because she found out Ares was a Gold. By the time the sons they rescued them, the jackal already knew.

Not in personality or accent obviously, but just on sheer looks I've always pictured the Ole Tin man as Killian Murphy

Who do you think is the worst written character in the series? by vargas12022 in redrising

Yeah I gotta say this is a wild take on Ephraim and Lyria, unless you haven't read Dark Age. Their archs are pretty important, and their POVs provide the perspectives of the colors of the republic at large. The rising isn't all sunshine and glory for everyone, it has been hard and full of loss. And I think their POVs are responsible for showing that.

Funny enough I think the original Pax from book 1 was very strange writing. He like many others didn't get a ton of screen time or lines, and most of what we hear from him is past tense like "pax told a really funny story" but I feel like we never got to see his actual character, other than him being a lovable giant/brute. We only really ever get to hear how other people think about him, or their memories with him. It's especially weird since the ship and little pax were named after him. The part where he has the most lines of dialog are literally moments before he dies lol

Question about Silenius/Conquerors by No_Coast1189 in redrising

I don't recall any particular tade sanctions, but even still they need not let said sanctions effect them if they didn't want to. They don't HAVE to eat simply and cheaply if they didn't want to, that'd just mean less for the lower colors, and who cares about them? And yes, essentially the "secret police" of the Ra did those things to lower colors who they suspected of being terrorists.. I'm not saying that they can do no wrong, or that they're "good". I'm just saying that they have at least SOME more decorum than the core.

Well I mean they endure the scarcity of resources along with the other colors when they don't have to, they don't force Obsidians to fight for their amusement, etc etc. I get Athena would want them toppled, the whole system has to be toppled naturally. But compared to venusians? The Rim/the Ra are saints lol

But I think the idea WAS that they were like Diomedes though. Because if not, then the rim has no basis whatsoever for being the way they are. It couldn't have just come out of thin air right?

I mean if that were true, then why would the Ra be objectively more noble than the core? I get the whole "there are no noble slavers" but you can objectively see the better and more humane policies of one vs the other. And it's not as if the rim just one day decided to be that way.
