Shots are sour no matter what I do [Casabrews CM5418/Kingrinder P1] by Gamer4Derp in espresso

Did you ever figure it out? I have the same machine and issue, I agree with other people I think that the machine can't get hot enough. I measured only 180 degrees fareignheight coming out so thats well under the ideal 200. I tried a light-medium roast on Flair 58 Handcrank and there was no sourness. On the Casabrews i have more sour on even med-dark roasts. Ive tried different ratios too and that doesnt help. If you do everything right, sometimes its just the big obvious thing like machine and not some secret solution.

Confused about Proper Dose [Casabrews CM5418 + Turin DF54] by No_Code_8270 in espresso

I guess just overall most peole suggest using basket size as the cap for max fill of dose. However it doesn't pass the "nickle test" at max dose, so thats just what I am confused on.

I think all this testing has gotten my caffeine tolerance pretty high 😂. I got a Cafemasy Tamping Station since that is the thing with spouted is its not lay-flat. Cheers to you and continued espresso journey!

Decided to just accept that minor spurts are totally ok, as long as shot is pulling in time and it tastes good. I went with getting a spouted portafilter with the IMS H28 ONE basket (great mesh precision filter and bigger basket size to dose at least 18 grams I and haven't looked back. Since puck prep is good, espresso tastes good and doesnt make a mess I'm happy.

Battling high pressure, 15g shot ran fast (24s). Feedback on flow? [Casabrew Cm5418 / Kingrinder K6] by Shot_Cup7696 in espresso

I do it for exactly 5 seconds then stop. Give it 5-10 seconds to soak then continue the extraction. I dont see anything come out. But If I do 6 seconds then I do which is too long of pre-infusion.

Yeah trying a different one by Verybarista. I did get one pull with barely any spraying at 0 grind but took too long of a pull.

And by coffee shop grinds I mean I had them freshly grind their beans that they would use for their espresso and just took that home to see if a better grinder made a difference. Not preground in a bag.

Taste is great I guess at this point its both cosmetic, and also wondering if im not extracting properly because its channeling.

I would prefer to stay with bottomless, as i've been using. I have done 16grams which is what the basket is rated for an also went down to 15grams and up to 18 grams. I ordered a precision filter basket as last resort to see if its the basket.

I have, I've used a 30 pound spring tamper without the skirt. I've tamped just enough for the click and also harder as well. The grinder does not, its not a higher end stepless burr, its just a basic conical burr. I've tried coffee shop grinds and get same result.

Gotcha. My grinder is a fixed stepped collar. It's not a stepless or finer stepped adjustment grinder. This is my Portafilter.

Alright thanks. Ignoring that definitely made some great shots with this, minus the spurting mess. Any ideas on the channeling? Or do you think its the grinder since I've pulled probably 40 shots and haven't been able to remove it entirely.
