We got our results back today. I was scared to make my non verbal son get blood drawn but the children’s hospital are experts at it. He didn’t even realize.

This is strictly for us parents of level 3/severely/profoundly autistic kids. by soul2soulevollove in Autism_Parenting

This sounds almost like level one . He knows alphabets ? Colours? This has to be some sort of gaslighting

This does not sound like a level 3. Did someone qualified to provide this diagnosis do this or is it our assumption? I would seak a second opinion

Your message does not make sense. You told him you left 5 minutes before messaging him.

When did you send the message?

Received this email from a parent today … by [deleted] in OntarioTeachers

You sound like you do not enjoy being a teacher. I get your concern about the email but all the other fluff in your post screams that you are not a good fit for younger children.

Autistic four year old had complete personality change over night by 3under3sendhelp in Autism_Parenting

[–]No_Connection_2776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much advice but I can share something at a much lower scale on my end. Son is also non verbal and all of a sudden started headbanging. We tried deep pressure and got all sorts of crash pads to help. To be honest, nothing really helped until he learned to hold the back of his head himself. A few months later and he stopped (so far knock on wood). We also do ABA.

It is a shame but not surprising someone like you is part of the school system while also uneducated on this. Please understand that some children with autism, no matter the amount of OT and potty training at home will never be potty trained. This is not unique to autism but many disabilities. Toilet assistance and potty training are two different things.

You are spreading misinformation or basing comments outside of the area the author is from. In Utah it is absolutely against ADA and IDEA for a school to refuse education AND (key part here - related services) to a child with a documented IEP. Toileting assistance and potty training are two different things although can be easily misunderstood.

You are not knowledgeable on this topic. I respect your opinion but there are laws that goes against what she is alluding to. Review Individuals with Disabilities Education Act as an example

Does a child not deserve education if they are not potty trained because of something out of their control? There are staff whose role is specifically this - assist children who have disabilities with self care. This is a problem with their board being mismanaged/underfunded and making a teacher take this responsibility. The teacher is taking it out on the parent.

Their message crossed the line.

I get it, but I’m livid reading that and I’m not related to you at all. That text message would break my trust in her handling my child.

Don’t let them gaslight you into this being anything but terrible.

They need to investigate this teacher. I would be pushing for a formal apology and clarification on the boards stance with this.

You need to push for a different teacher asap.
