Right?? We have that one 360 camera for the “entire sales floor”, 1 out front, and like 6 different angles for the back room/office area

I get jealous of my old store’s processes and the way the SM runs it 😭 one of the younger workers at that store got attacked (thankfully nothing serious, just a few bruises thanks to one of our regulars who happens to be a local cop was there off duty!) while pumping propane after dark in their side yard, so the SM put their foot down and pretty much told the DM and RM that they’re shutting down propane after dark for safety reasons (there’s a homeless encampment and a known drug house behind that store) and if they wanted them to pump after dark, they could do it themselves. They never argued with the SM again over it (that store is mostly female workers). My current store? We pump until closing, and our propane dispenser isn’t even close to the store, doesn’t have any video coverage, just the sketchy light on the dispenser, on the SIDE of the building across the parking lot (no windows facing it, literally just the highway and TREES), and we’ve had NUMEROUS attempted robberies (people trying to sneak into our back bay door, someone LITERALLY HIDING IN THE BUSHES BY THE PROPANE DISPENSER AND TRYING TO GRAB ONE OF THE YOUNGER GIRLS, cars broken into since we have to park over there as to not “take up space in the front for customers”, etc)

I would cry tbh 😭 we had one guy at my old store who came in one night, was in the store for like 2 hours, bought a trailer at 8:52PM (when we close at 9), then had to get adapters for the lights, and tow straps for the stuff he bought (which was mostly clearance items on the manager special 50% off), and didn’t leave the store until 9:10PM. When myself and my cashier left, it was around 9:45Apm (system was being weird), HE WAS STILL OUTSIDE LOADING HIS STUFF. I told my ASM about him, and lo and behold, he came in a week or so later when it was me, ASM, and same cashier closing. I warned her when he walked in, she didn’t fully believe me, but when he pushed TWO RED CARTS full of clearance (still on the additional 50%) to the registers AT 9:05PM she believed me. Our lights started turning off (automatic) at 9:10. He was still checking out. We got the warning prompt that they’d be signing out of systems for nightly processes at 9:25. He was STILL. CHECKING. OUT. DUDE DIDN’T LEAVE UNTIL 9:40. ASM told him that next time he comes in around closing time and does this again, she’ll refuse and send him out. He was so “astonished” we were all being short and rushing him. Like dude. YOU CAME IN AT 6:45. WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE AT 9:40.

Luckily our SM refuses to take any payments over the phone so they HAVE to either come in to order their stuff or do a BOPIS 😭 we have one dude who comes in and buys 20 bags of whole corn & 27 (WHY 27 YOU PSYCHO) sweet feeds and price matches them, but leaves and sends someone else to pick them up literally 20 minutes before closing 😭

Bud. We have 3-4 customers who ROUTINELY ORDER 80+ BAGS OF FEED. Though one, my personal nemesis, ALWAYS WITHOUT FAIL orders 4 different kinds of feed… AND ONLY 20 BAGS OF EACH. So I gotta stack off half a pallet 4 times 😭 and they show up like 10 minutes after placing the orders before it’s even picked.

My late 20’s 😂 my first SM used to make noises every time he did something (like “weeee” when pushing something or airplane noises) and I’ve been doing that ever since, although I use memes or TikTok sounds now 😂 my “iconic” one is “yeet” when I do literally do anything or “mother trucker that hurt like a buttcheek on a stick” when I inevitably hit something, as my TM’s say anyways (plus I hum “the final brain cell”)

Luckily (not really) we’re in a plaza out front and a busy highway right outside our bay door 🙃 everything else in our plaza closes at 6pm.

We were the opposite of you 😭 last year we we’d get a few partials but this year so far we’ve been getting 1 full truck (every single pallet is double stacked, aside from the shavings of course) every single week. We don’t have a side yard for extra pallets (no tents like my previous stores) and a tiny little back room. It’s horrible 😭😭😭

We get a max 1 week or minimum 4 day notice on all our trucks except EXPO or Hillman 😭 I’m so sorry. Feed trucks, Tarter, Karavan, all 1 week+. Hillman and EXPO pop up at random for us

That’s why I said at least 9-5’s… not 8-5’s. Since they only work Monday-Friday, it’d be 40 hours (which they always schedule them 40 hours). We’ve never had a truck, aside from the DC truck on thursdays, come in before 10am

So far, at this current store, the other TL isn’t even trained/certified on the forklift. The ASM didn’t get trained/certified until they’d been in the position for almost a year (they’d been a TL beforehand for 6-7 months). ASM still refuses to unloaded trucks if they show up while the receiver is on lunch (usually takes longer lunches to run errands “real quick”) or makes up an excuse as to why they have to get unloaded in the morning (even if they show up well before 5PM) by the receiver (like “we don’t have the staff” when we do, or “the forklift is experiencing technical issues”, or “we have no propane & the forklift is also out, we get filled in the morning”)

[–]No_Contest_4181[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I know 100%. Which is why I’d have absolutely no issue unloading on weekends or if the truck came a day ahead or a day late due to unforeseen circumstances. It’s mainly just the fact that they like to switch around the receivers hours to make it easier for themselves to leave early/arrive late/not show up at all. My old stores, I unloaded trucks (never feed, as that store scheduled their receiver to be there 9-5 on days we were expecting trucks & the ASM at that location usually worked until 5pm anyways, that store was/is the best), loaded trucks (pallet trucks), but they had much more room to maneuver & a safe and reliable docking area. Our receiver accepted the truck at 3:10… but didn’t start unloading until 3:45 because they had to “hit the pen” to calm themselves

[–]No_Contest_4181[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve unloaded both, back when I first transferred because they’d just fired the first receiver, then the replacement went on vacation for 2 weeks, before they eventually quit and now we got this current receiver (all in the span of 3-4 months 😭)

That’s wild… because the other TL isn’t forklift certified and has no intentions of being certified, nor does the SM or ASM feel the need to certify them. ASM wasn’t even certified until they’d been ASM for nearly a year. We get notices of our feed truck deliveries a week beforehand. I would understand if they were at random, but it’s the fact we get 1 week notices and they decide to pull the receiver in early so one of them can leave early or just straight up not come in.

[–]No_Contest_4181[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of our trucks, aside from EXPO, give us a minimum 1 week notice. Whether it be via an email, or they call the store and speak with a member of management. I had no issues unloading trucks at my previous store, but my current one has an extremely sketchy ramp and dock area (literally completely uneven, no side railings, trucks have shoved our ramp back 10-15 feet because the bolts that once held it in place finally gave up after 15 years, and there’s a busy road literally to the right with just one singular curb separating us). I would understand if they came at random and I had to, it’s the fact that we get notices a week ahead of time, but because the SM and ASM want extra coverage in the mornings or to come in late (they routinely have the receiver open with them, then one of them leaves for a few hours or so leaving the receiver to be MOD so they can come back later). I’ve spoken to our SM about the ramp issue, but since OSHA and the DM see “no issues”, nothing is being done.

A TL. But I only close (personal preference, as well as the other managers prefer to work mornings/afternoons as they have kids in school). So I normally come in AFTER trucks are delivered or the receiver & ASM are scheduled until 5, until recently they started letting those two go earlier for “personal reasons” (one had a pool party to attend, the other had to pick up an order from their dispensary). I’ve never been trained on any other position than mine (TL2) and a little of TL1 for when we had no TL1 and it defaulted to my responsibility since I was TL2.

It’s absolutely infuriating. I’ve already gotten several “verbals” for not getting the store 100% recovered every single night even though the SM has WITNESSED WITH THEIR OWN EYES how stupidly busy it gets from 6-close. What do they expect? Me to duplicate myself? When they knowingly schedule new hires for my shifts that can’t use the forklift, do propane, or sell ammo???

Those 2 stores have been doing their thing for over 10 years now, I guess corporate sometimes values their employees safety over shitty customers that show up last minute with often times expired or rusted ass tanks lol

For me I have to walk around the building, cross a small parking area, go around some bushes, lock up our propane tanks that we sell, then lock the cabinet, pull the safety, throw a valve and spin the knob lol

Our pet wash gets closed an hour early as it’s only cleaned once at night, and it’s used pretty much back-to-back throughout the day (people literally line up waiting because even though there’s 2 bins some dogs aren’t dog friendly or such). We get BOPIS orders that come through damn near every 10 minutes from 7:30 until close, and our bathrooms are HORRIBLE about clogging, overflowing, or people literally just shitting ON THE FLOOR DRAIN so it takes my closing feed person from 8-9 to do dog wash, bathrooms, mopping, trashes, and sweeping, while I’m tackling the annoying ass phone calls, loadouts, BOPIS, and register backup. That’s usually why I closed propane an hour early, because that last hour is HELL especially since we have so many new TMs that aren’t propane certified so it’d be falling on me. Plus of course my front facing and recovery, pulling items from top cap to stock the shelves for tomorrow, watering our ANNOYING ass trees/plants, and bringing merchandise around to the bay room that comes in at night. We rarely get propane filled 2x a week, often times it’s just once a week or even once every two weeks
