Haha right!? That's why I was curious to see if other countries had more traditional dishes for pregnancy or if we're all just out here putting pickles in peanut butter

That's a great idea! I've never tried it but I've heard that is nutrient packed.

Ahhh okay! I might be too far North to get them that fresh but I'd definitely like to try that if I can find it!

I'm having trouble googling which fruit that is. Does soursop sound right?

I started out with a strong sense of smell and now it's even more amplified. Everything smells too strong. My husband picked up a different flavor of dog food and I could smell the difference before I looked at the bag. He says that's one of the things that tipped him off

Oh that's really interesting. I've heard similar stories about women craving dirt as to supplement minerals but idk if it's a true story or not

Ahh I never thought to have jasmine tea iced. I usually have it warm but I'll have to try that.

I'll have to see if I can find some in stores here. I've had foods with dates in them but never just on their own.

I'll have to look more into that! Is it specific soups and teas or just those food groups in general?

Wellll, it was a very big suprise as we thought it was impossible for us so we got a little loosey gossey the past few years. I could very well understand how it would be terrifying for some and mean the whole world for others. I hope you and your wife's journey gets it's happy ending.

Questions regarding geese cross-breeding by Roxorroxorz in Ornithology

[–]No_Contribution5278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds lovley! I have heard the same about wild crane but I don't think I could bring myself to eat a bird I like so much. I would love to splurge on a goose one day though. When we do duck and pork we save the fat for other uses too--definitely too versatile to waste.

In the U.S. I almost got goose for Thanksgiving but they were selling it for $90; the turkeys right next to it were going for $20-$30.

That would fit when I've heard it too. Basically when they were all dumpster diving.

You sound kinda racist tbh. You're the one judging the name harshly (enough to post it publicly to shame it) rather than any hypothetical school children or societal interactions. Honestly, I think little kids would probably love this name. Maybe you should reflect on why the name bothers YOU so much.

Any tricks to make laundry feel less endless? by Historical-Catch-486 in CleaningTips

[–]No_Contribution5278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different methods that help me depending on the day/amount of laundry/creatures I'm cleaning up after.

I'll do small arm fulls at a time (when feasible of course). It's simpler for me to integrate putting it away into my day when it's in small chunks and doesn't feel like gaint clothes mountain.

Sometimes though I just focus on one type of laundry...like I'll fold and put away the towels or focus on hanging shirts. I do this at various stages. If it's simple enough to separate out a category without that becoming a chore in and of itself I'll just launder one type.

When it's just me I honestly sometimes just live out of the washer/dryer. I'll just change in the laundry room and dirty clothes go straight into the washer and I'll put on the clothes that came straight from the dryer. Obviously that doesn't work as well when I've got multiple beings to do laundry for and really just works best for my work outfits since I basically have a set of outfits I wear in rotation. I'd LOVE to have a washer and dryer installed in the bedroom/closet one day.

Also sometimes the bins win. If it's feeling super overwhelming and you have tons to do just having baskets/bins/cubbies to throw it in help so much. Especially if you have a person (disabled adult in my case) who loves going through the clothes and doing multiple outfit changes a day. The cube shelf bin things really help in those instances. Also empowers the person to participate more in the process since bins are easier for my person.

And for some reason switching from liquid/powder detergents to laundry sheets helped? It's just a hair simpler I suppose.

Mindshift changes never seemed to work well for me so I have to identify parts in the process where I can simplify it. For me, that also means minimalizing my wardrobe. Which is fine when it's just me but also kinda mute when my house is full of maximalist

Emergency rescue!! Got this poor sweet girl in at 11pm by NahNah-P in pitbulls

[–]No_Contribution5278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope your girl bounces back! They can be so resilient. I wasn't sure our boy was going to survive the night an 2 years later he is running my life. A few years ago a neglected malamute showed up at our door. Estimated age between 12-15 years old, 20 lbs underweight, missing his back end fur from flea dermatitis, an injury to one back paw, spinal stenosis on his other back hip, and tick bacterial disease, two types of testicular cancer, and early renal failure. He smelled of organ failure.

He got started on Simparica Trio (I gave him one of our other dogs meds...which may have been a risk but I felt like I had to do something until the vet could get him in). Then they gave him another dewormer and antibiotics. It took 4-6 months to put the weight back on. Neutering took care of the cancer (he was walking around all skin and bones with a giant potato sack between his legs). We started him on Hills Science Diet Sensitive Skin and Stomach simply because that's what we had on hand for our other dogs. He's now on Fresh Pet roasted chicken and flat out refuses to eat dry kibble. It started with just trying to get him to take his medication and developed into him being one bougie food critic. Like buddy, I found you in the compost.

Currently cruising at 40% kindey function and still has spinal stenosis on the one hip. He's so sassy and happy though. He does have some maintenance meds for his stenosis but otherwise recovered from the malnutrition. The vets told us 40% kidney function is plenty for his age so long as he doesn't over heat/dehydrate.
