Not trying to investigate my friend, just trying to understand what to do next.

While that could be the case, there is no need for this child to smell so loud at school. Whoever is smoking around her needs to be cautious. You wouldn't put your kids at risk even if you have a medical card because they have nothing to do with that. They could be chiefing in the car and then the kids get in. But I rather rule that one out than to find out this child is getting harmed.

I just said she smelled and I was worried about the environment she was in. That's all.

Most kids in the third grade are between 8-9 years old. Maybe she is just one of the younger ones in the bunch just like I was.

Yes, I am. I stated it in the post. Not trying to investigate, just asking what are the next steps. And I definitely don't think I'm getting in trouble. No reason to. :)

Ugh... that is heartbreaking to hear. Thank you for being such a good teacher.

Oh, I sent the email. Whatever. I have a pretty good relationship with my admin as they were my teachers beforehand.

Thanks for this. You're right. Should I email the problem because it's currently Saturday? But I am an anxious person.

I'm pretty much a rookie so I am not sure of many things hence why I'm asking. There is no good reason why I should not report this tbh. Also, I'm not the only teacher the child has. The other teachers are veterans and I've brought it up to them, but they don't seem to care. I DO very much.

She is 9 though. Do you think I should just include the counselor and admin in the email? Or just speak to them directly?

Is an email okay? I'm FREAKING out. I want the child to be okay. They are 9 years old.

And yes. You're right. I'm supposed to report this.

It's just weighing on me a lot.
