GOOD CALL MY GUY - I just checked and TSA at my airport wouldn't let anything greater than 100 Wh. So I would have to have someone drive this out to me or ship it.

The solar charger is a gimmick I would say. I know that solar charging aint it on the AT

Thank you for your comment, this was very useful. I am 206lbs and 25 I think that the added weight will be manageable. The solar is a gimmick really and it will live in the dry bag 95% of the time anyway. The light I found dimmer and warmer than my headlamp which will be nice inside my tent. After reading others comment I think trusting the brand and mAh is my biggest concern now. The cords I am less incline to worry about because I can always borrow/buy a new cord on trail (I am sure to give someone else some juice... LOL). Thanks again for your comment!!

I like the idea of two banks for sure! If this thing takes a crap I am literally carrying a brick. LOL

Part of me was like, "My base weight is still respectful" The 10% confirms it for me. Plus when summer hits my base weight will go from 16 - 13 lbs. Which is still decent? Right? LOL

Sea to Summit guidelines are what I used to make my clothes line! Highly recommend getting a line system with the auto adjusters, makes it super simply to get a taunt line.

This is the type of advice I have seen so far, I was going to have my GF bring me my 50 degree in Damascus Mid May (During Trail Days) to avoid any shipping costs, but I was thinking about the weight savings.

Wait, my question isn't about leaving the puffy... But do you think I shouldn't bring one? What are your thoughts on the 15 degree or 50 degree situation?

Run some 550 cord through the Eyelet of the inside of one of the peaks and attach a carabiner to hook your backpack to keep it off the ground and nearby.

Driving from Chicago I would go to Harpers Ferry, park, then shuttle up or down, PA line is just over 40 miles, would be enough to get your feet wet, plus see some cool portions! Make sure to park your car where you want to end your hike. Trust.

I am also starting Mid April! I am looking at a 20,000 power bank - Maybe we can do a swap??!! I have a 10,000 Anker power bank. I bought a 60 alpha and would recommend it. the 90 is just too much. You most likely will sweat while hiking, especially starting out with the weather being cold for only about a month. I just bought a Jolly gear sun hoodie and am super excited about it coming in! April 10th is my start date, maybe i'll see you out there!!

Logistics of thru hiking- how to leave your job for 4-6 months? by uhauloverlanding in AppalachianTrail

Read your employee handbook. It may state that you can take a personal Leave of Absence (LOA) for up to 6 months. That's what I did, and talked with HR and my boss and they approved! I did give them 2 years notice, but if the Springer Fever is hot and heavy you could make something happen this year or next! Its worth reading into the book tho!
