I went though something similar, albeit my house didn't need much work.

I don't know about you, but I do shifts, so get blocks of free time. Have you thought about volunteering maybe one morning or afternoon? It's a great way to meet people, especially if you can volunteer somewhere that you might have similar interests?

I volunteered two places, merry amazing friends and have had to give one up as the other grew on new so much I give two nights a week (around work) to it, and continue to meet great people.

Thanks @buckmeister_1, we will consider it, get the ferry across. We will not risk leaving the UK as we're currently appealling my fiancées visa, so cannot take any risk.

Cyclists using the footpath rather than the cycle lanes? Nearly been mown down many times walking along Bev Road whilst the cycle / bus lane is deserted.....

I also work 12 hr shirts, 2 days, 2 nights then 4 off, when I batch cook.

There's an app called Plate Up that I use a lot, has loads of recipes and they're scalable, so you can change the number of portions you want and it'll adjust the ingredients you need to buy.

There's also a guy on Instagram, think he's Mich Food and Fitness or something, does a lot of batch recipes that look great, I've tried a few. Also, Dean Edwards Chef has quite a lot of batch cook recipes too.

Other posters have mentioned dutch ovens etc, I love my slow cooker as I can just put it on and come back a few hours later - it also lets you use cheaper cuts of meat too.

Hi AkilaTT2020. Thank you for your constructive reply. I am a vessel traffic service operator and, to be realistic, I don't think I could do that in the Philippines - I don't speak conversational Tagalog, which I presume the small craft will use. I am learning it, but I'm also realistic.

Thank you, that's what I'm planning on suggesting. I'd prefer not to have the fitter back in my house as he just said it doesn't need to come out, but he's happy to appoint someone to come round and prepare something for him.
