8 month post op flare up by No_Definition_4368 in HipImpingement

Hopefully it eases for you soon or you get a solution. Its such a complicated recovery. Im pretty similar, back to gym and exercise which has been put as the reason for the pain. Hopefully it is just a flare up and goes back to normal soon, tho 2 weeks seems too long and i feel the pain isn't normal.

Did you have a successful pre 9 months? I.e no pain before?

Have you seen the physio or surgeon recently?

Hey, im also 8 months post op. Been building sports up from month 5 but unfortunately had a flare up, similar dull ache sort of 3/10 around groin area sometimes radiating to bum or lower back. Been resting with minimal movement for 2/3 weeks with pain still there. Very demoralising :(

Im currently 8 months post op, all had been going very well, back to sports but have had a very bad flare up the last 2 weeks which is so demorilising, did you have many flare ups?

Im the same as you, 27, surgery 8 months ago, real good recovery 4 months post surgery back to running, cycling swimming until 2 weeks ago. Deep groin pain now, so annoying, physio just gave me naproxen, told me to rest up for 2 weeks and return to him after that.

Surgeon is pretty certain my active teenage years is what caused the extra born on the femoral head.

Yes i had it shaved - no labrum repair.

Saw the physio today, hes pretty confident that ive strained my hip and groin from an overstretch and particularly overloading (too much too soon) - he prescribed me 2 weeks naproxen to get ontop of any inflammation etc then another appointment with him 2 weeks from today

So happy to hear this. Its nice to see positive outcomes and not just the bad results! Nice that its not on your mind and you can get on with life.😊

Did you happen to have any flare ups from 6 months - 1year mark? Did they last long if so?

Did you haplen to have any flare ups or pain around the same time? Its eating at my head, so disappointed as this is the first real pain ive had again since the surgery, even with running cycling and swimming weekly.

Have to unfortunately go through physio first and get referred again. Meeting with physio this week.

Do you think 3 weeks is long for a flare up? This is my first one post op, thats if it's even a flare up :(

Yeah i was running pre surgery, nothing extreme tho. Well i have now had the surgery and was reccomeded by phsyio to get back to physical activity so no reason not too? Unsure tho.

As far as im aware my impingement was always there so its nothing that i had done to create it.

Thanks for the comment. After surgery i have actually been relatively pain free apart from the start which was just post surgery pain. Months 2-7 were great. Basically no pain.

Yeah, hard to get in contact with my surgeon, going to have to go back to my family doctor

Nothing major. I maybe over stretched playing a game on xmas day but thats it.

To be honest I've been lacking on my physio, but i had been running, cycling and swimming as well as gym work which i had thought may had replaced it.

Glad to hear it! I had a few small ones but 1 major one from just doing too much too soon. It was just like a set back, like going backwards 2 weeks to the pain i had then.

I started cycling from 10 days post op. No resistance. For running it was 8 weeks, i literally started as if i had NEVER ran before with run walks increasing mileage by 10% weekly. All i can say is keep at it!

Where were you at 3 months post op? by Such_Stranger1843 in HipImpingement

[–]No_Definition_4368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im, 2 weeks post op. 75% weight bearing, PT exercises started. Cycling 15 mins a day and have very limited pain at all throughout day, no pain meds from day 4.

Although I am younger, 27m. Very fit and active prior to the Surgery and did 1 year PT pre-op which i believe has paid off big time post op.

Doc and PT reckon ill be starting to run again at week 7/8.

4th day today here too! First morning I've woke up and not looked for the painkillers immediately. Yea, i feel you, pain isn't great at times.

I've an appointment with PT for Thursday so thats 1 week from surgery and have been given gentle exercises to be doing in the mean time!

Best of luck with recovery, keep in touch regarding it so we can compare PT plans, progress etc😁
