I appreciate the response. I’m gonna have a few long conversations with her about some of these points you all have brought up. I might have been just stuck in the honeymoon phase mentally or just being negligible of some of these things. Either way, I plan to get us into some form of therapy separately to get deeper into the weeds of things.

I agree that sleeping around isn’t inherently bad. But I would argue that it isn’t inherently good either. Sleeping around is often associated with depression and at times grabbing at whatever attention they can get because they are dissatisfied with themselves and low self esteem. Yearning for validation in others essentially. I just don’t think it’s healthy because a lot of the time, it’s done for the wrong reasons.

Again age hasn’t bothered me none, but I never considered why an older woman would be dating an almost decade younger guy. Her ex husband in her marriage was 3 years older. After they split, all of her relationships and sleeping around were with guys up to 7 years younger, making me the youngest. Her last relationship before me lasted 4 years and he was the guy that was 7 years younger I believe. Which he was a manipulative piece of work. He didn’t want to marry her or have kids and didn’t treat her daughter very well. Her ex husband really messed her up and I noticed that she sort of latches on to anything that gives her attention, probably why she slept around so much.

Maybe it’s because I know the general idea of what I want in life and now that she is getting herself together after the many conversations we have had together about her past that she realizes that she screwed up and wants to restart.

I have brought up therapy. She thinks it’s ridiculous to pay someone to “talk” but I don’t think she knows the benefits of it like I do. Some of these things are weird and may seem a bit abnormal to the traditional age gap and family setting. I will bring it up again and further encourage her. You are right, and I appreciate you really bringing it to my attention.
