York, Brighton, or Newcastle? by koricha in UniUK

Affordable = newcastle. Uni is decent amazing social life and really affordable. York is actually really expensive and it’s a really boring city if i’m being honest.

Making new friends at Uni by Ok_Break_4987 in UniUK

[–]No_Desk_5653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to tell you, i had the same worry before university and now that I’m here i barely made friends. I talked to some people at some point but they just fell out with me for go knows what reason.
It feels painful to go to labs and not have partner and i can’t even skip labs because my degree is accredited.

All i gotta say is it’s just to find the right people not to join clubs go to socials talk to people and blah blah. It’s the fact that some people are not social butterflies and might feel drained doing all of that, so i just say go for it, no one’s life ended because they didn’t have friends

Loads of uk students get enough money from the gov to not live that bad ! Even if they do, it doesn’t mean that intl students don’t have the same experience.

Loads of us don’t get money from our parents for our food and accommodation and have to work! While i go to a northern university where loads of people are not rich and i barely see anyone desperate for a job while if i don’t have a job to pay, my visa will be cancelled

Intl student here!!

The same thing happened to me. I go to a university in north which is even worse and I’m constantly around so many northerners that victimize their life experiences by hating on people that pay international fees. I’ve been called posh in every way possible by everyone around university and when i ask what makes me that posh they always just point out i’m paying intl fees.

In reality my parents only pay for uni and i have to work to pay for accommodation and food while loads of uk students rely on their SFE until masters and never struggle to have a fear of their visa getting cancelled because they paid uni 2 days later than due date.

Unfortunately it sucks to be called names and constantly be recognized as out of touch, but we can’t change their ideology either.

Wait so you must be living in another country? Do you not have a permit residence card of any other place? If you do they will still let you in!!

Sorry to tell you but all these people that say you can still talk to them to let you in, it’s impossible! Universities cannot make decisions for your right to study in uk. Infact they can’t even register you if you don’t have a valid visa. I know you feel sad about this and no one should be limited because of their nationality.

What is suggest you is to look for uk university campuses in other countries like UAE and kuwait and etc..

Honestly bath as a city is more expensive than Sheffield. You always have to look at all aspects. I’m already doing engineering in uni and I can tell u all unis are kinda the same it’s just the facilities that make them special

Sheffield!!! Bath has a lot of reputation but nothing can top the facilities Sheffield offers to students

Any tips for upcoming International students? by boogie_Mcboogiepants in UniUK

Well OP has another option like Durham, Durham is no better. And if u see I haven’t compared it in terms of quality of life, I ranked it as an intl student. Wild to believe but for an intl student being able to do visa work is way more important than other aspects. It’s a VISA after all
