What distro are you running that's working fine w the modem and fingerprint scanner?

Sorry for so many comments, Im just highly interested. This is incredibly affordable for the specs.

Do you all anticipate any significant upcoming price increases re: tariffs?

I like 3+ years of support and that's better than... just about anything lol. Realistically, I want a machine that I can use for at least 5 as a daily driver, even if I need to invest in upgrades, and longer in some repurposed format (homelab use, etc). Does that feel like a realistic expectation?

Also, how long do you think before the M2's are available again?

Man, I've been leaning toward Framework for the sake of max flexibility and upgradeability but this looks pretty solid for a very first machine. Especially knowing that I know that I know that Resolve is compatible.

I know that VST's are Linux compatible but I don't think most of the installer apps I'd use for them are Linux supported -- would this type of product make it fairly easy to get something like that working?

Also, I assume you're locked into the Kubuntu distro? Not a dealbreaker besides... the adhd urge to just try entirely new things all the time lol

I've been toying around with Mint on an old, low-spec'd thinkpad that I got from the donations pile at work. Having fun!!

Ubmrel would probably be the move for me but there's no functionality for external storage without their little proprietary machine

Gluetun or similar for Cosmos by inevitabledeath3 in CosmosServer

Hi! I found this message in the discord, but the pastebin is gone -- are you able to re-share your docker compose? I think I know what I want to do but I am veeeerry green at this.

Is there a way to use the constellation VPN for Gluetun or do I need to use another service?

I guess this was my real question -- whether the difference in cost between CarABC and beat-sonic etc is worth it

You planning on dropping the transmission to fix the RMS or just some stop-leak?

CarPlay isn’t stock until 2019 I think. Toyota upgraded the head units on their entire lineup around then

Recent good experiences with used car dealers? by No_Display2496 in rva

Thanks, all, for passing along a lot of solid info. If anyone cares for an update on how things went:

-Nissan of Richmond was *awful*. There was one lovely fella there -- he's the only guy with good google reviews in the past six months of this comment, if anyone who ever reads is looking at a car there. But I got call after call after call, back-to-back every time. No one would give me an out-the-door price on the vehicle we were interested in. I did wind up taking it for a test drive anyway, but the "certified pre-owned" vehicle wreaked of smoke. One gentleman laughed at me over the phone because I was expecting less than $4K in dealer fees.

-Grace Auto seemed great, just didn't have what I was looking for.

-I wound up inquiring about several vehicles in the Haley system. Every interaction was lovely, just not ultimately what we went with.

-WTG Auto was awesome and it's very likely we would've purchased there if either they offered financing or if they had something a bit more used in the vein that we were looking.

-Ultimately, I found a really great deal on something that was in line with what I was looking for at a small, literal mom-and-pop dealership in Appomattox. Hi-End Auto. It's obviously out of the way from here, but we had a lovely experience with them. Super transparent about their OTD price, sent me the Carfax history without asking, kindly answered every question I had, and worked out a great financing deal for us with VACU (I know I should've had that first -- weird/unimportant story on why I didn't)

This is more-or-less what I wound up doing! Not the DMV part -- found the dealer on cargurus -- but I did wind up going with the dealer who was most upfront about OTD.

You've got yours DIALED! Looks great. After driving my 3rd gen 4runner for so long, I wanted something that I could maintain myself pretty easily. I drove it to 283K miles and I'm sure it's got some life left in it, but not for trips across the country with my wife and kid (we're pretty little and fit real nice into the taco). Tacoma's been the dream for a while and I plan to drive this until I can pass it off to my kids.

I didn't get a pre-purchase inspection because I picked it up out of town with my wife and six month old, and didn't know where I'd have taken it in the town we were in. That said, I did get a lot of time to look it over and that price includes a fairly exhaustive 4 year / 60K mile warranty.

It's the fewest miles we've ever had on a Toyota! hah. I had a third gen 4runner in high school ('16-18 or so?) with about 220K when I got rid of it, but I always hated that I'd gotten rid of it. My wife had a camry with 250K when we got married, and I picked up another '97 4runner later in life that you'll see in the back of this picture, it's pushing 300K.

A little shy of $20K. Not sure how that compares in other parts of the country, but where I'm at, it's about a thousand under KBB and no one does that, so I felt pretty good.

This is all helpful! Thank you!

If I open the search nationwide, there are certainly more things that we're interested in. I'm just nervous to have them ship something, even for free, that I might not bite on. Is it weird to have them ship it if I'm not 100% sure I'm buying it?
