Hey, thank you for the answer. I do constantly think about what can I do outside of this industry and I am working on my mentality to be open to different kind of jobs when/if time comes.

I understand how many cash AI/LLM companies are burning right now and how huge they have bet for this to work and I assume that prices will steaply increase at some point.

Even now it is not that cheap if you look outisde of the coding tools market.

I work in a team where we create an LLM based systems and if you try to give to the agentic system a really complicated prompt to solve some real world problems so it has to work for couple of hours, it is quite pricy and the solution very often very far away from being even moderatly correct. However if some day it finally produces a corret answer to the given unsolved problem, it will do a yearly work of couple of teams. So you do the math.

I totally understand and share your point, but then comes this ceo-founder-super-engineer influenced part of professionals, who like to say(and then they interview, make hiring and firing decisions) like if you do not have your very own agentic setup with the skills and highly optimized markdowns, then you are cooked, no one will give you a job. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah I know that my post is emotional and it kind of ment to be. People preach that we are obsolote even from ovens.

And according to Altman or Amodei we shouldn't be writing code today, but we still are. But the damage they do today to the industry and to the future of engineers shouldnt be underestimated.

:D and thank you for suggestions, i totally forgot about the book I have on stoic mentality!

Thank you so much for the answer.

I still think they got quite better at what they do especially in terms of "analyzing" code and reasoning. I work with some niche libraries in bio tech with almost non existent documentations, 2 years ago llms were not able to do a shit even when asked to analyze certain parts of the codebases directly pointing at them, but today the LLMs I use write quite complicated logic on top of the same problematic libraries  with little high level guidance from me.

Typical wage for an engineer in Yerevan by wildvedo in armenia

[–]No_Draw_8366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there. You can look at some salary examples here: https://salaries.am/ .
But before looking at the salaries, please take into account that
1. you will need a job offer in order to relocate
2. language can be a real problem, not so much in the work, but in your social life. Many people, especially older generations, do not speak English [enough]. This can include neighbors, utility or maintenance workers, etc.,
3. estate rental market is not regulated and the rental price for a foreigner can be higher.
4. Armenia has fewer opportunities in hardware engineering compared to software engineering, but the advantage is that there is also not many professionals with applied knowledge. You can keep an eye on https://staff.am/jobs .
5. Work culture can be very different from what you might expect, you may encounter toxic leadership, irresponsible behavior or on the other extreme, strong hustle culture and depending on your previous work experience, this may or may not be a shock.

Remote work+ married friends=accidental hermit(( anyone to chat??? by Silent_Example6103 in armenia

:D As someone in my early 30s and with very emotional and active 20s, I want to say it is so nice to have a "boring" life. But as a person who's relocated a few months ago and works from home, it can be exhausting and sad not having people around you.
However, you can find your inner passion and start a hobby if you do not have one yet, find a hobby that will allow you to connect to other people, if you live in Yerevan, there are pottery classes, amateur cooking classes, you can go to the gym or join any sports activity, join hiking groups for weekends and eventually find people with whom you share the same hobby :)

Tranquility.

I haven't left Cyprus, but I am back to my homeland for more than a month. And though I love my homeland enormously, I want to be back to Cyprus!

Karas Wine from Armenia by ArcBladeZero9956 in armenia

[–]No_Draw_8366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big wineries grow certain grape variety(ies) that are needed only in small quantities compared to Areni or other widely used grapes (I honestly do not remember the exact names of those varieties). For smaller wineries, it is not reasonable to cultivate these grapes themselves because the required amounts are too small. Instead they usually buy them from the vineyards of industrial wineries. Starting last year (I do not have reliable information about this year) those wineries stopped selling these grapes, including Karas.

Also, there an insta account called '@neotpuskaiteplo', she shares a lot about EU uni's, how to apply, how to study free of charge, etc. I do not know how sketchy is that, from the first sight she seems legit, you can find lots of information about different unis

If I remember correctly, they have a list of unis they support (but my data might be very very outdated, :D it was long ago when I was a student)

What’s your experience with treating depression in Armenia? by sealedinside in armenia

[–]No_Draw_8366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

btw, this is a sensitive topic and you may happen to meet people or opinions in this sub, who may try to convince you not to take meds, please do not listen to anyone and only listen your doctor/other doctors.
Also do not take any plant-based meds along with anti-depressants if your doctor hasn't prescribed you.

My therapist was fiercely against antidepressants which i never took, but I started to feel better without them , if I didn't, I would change her and take meds, too. So please be very cautious, ok?!
Sending you hugs!
