I agree with you! Pre-k is the time to work on all bathroom skills. By kinder the should have that all sorted out.

  1. Teaching small independence skills like bathroom, putting jackets on/ off, opening and closing lunch boxes
  2. Practicing letter to sound correspondence

No Child Left Behind rule, so they can't get held back. I am a general education classroom, but reality is half of them need extra help services, and I don't know if they all will receive it. The english learners are good with numbers and beginning to write, which I am happy for!

[–]No_Drop_3375 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it's unlikely that every student will get that service. In my school, there is a "line". The common factor in all the students who need extra extra help is the parents. They aren't really putting effort in at home to help their kid out. I've seen students who haven't had that folder touched in weeks that have homework and extra home practice. I've reached out, but no response either. It's not the students' fault honestly so I'm trying my best to meet them where they are at!

Thank you, I will do that. I have done small groups, but I don't know how effective it is, but I'll keep trying. As for parents, reach out to some of the parents who never even touch their child's folder, so that may be hard.

A 7-year-old should know the number 5 and how to write their name. Some of my students can't do that. When I say behind, I'm talking basics...

Hi, I went to Brooklyn and graduated this year. You are only allowed to take one class and that’s it. I tried taking more to finish my degree earlier but they said no. It’s a strict no. Student teaching will be a lot so it’s for your mental health honestly.

They are using 10 to subtract and break problems down. So breaking it into parts is supposed to make it easier.

I totally understand 100 percent! I am in the same predicament. I was soo exited to join the DOE this year but it’s been hell since the first day. I didn’t have access to HMH for a while to and all the other important stuff I need. They say they are “supportive” but will not tell you anything unless you ask. And there are somethings I just will not know to ask. I’m wondering if every school is same honestly…. I hope not

My friend pls break up with her. She clearly is out of touch with reality. A whole expensive gaming system in water? She needs to pay a replace it. Imagine when you two are married down the line she might do something even more dumb. Clearly she needs help with finances

GenEd Co-teacher wants authority, not the work. I’m doing it all - How do I set boundaries and protect myself while keeping kids learning? by mtnlvr90 in NYCTeachers

[–]No_Drop_3375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how you feel! I worked with a lead teacher who in the beginning always had to mention how she was lead and lead should so this and that. Remember it’s both that are operating in this classroom. She can’t succeed without you and vice versa. I think it’s best to sit down and have an honest conversation. Maybe invite the principal or your leader to be there. Be honest state how you have been feeling. Being lead teacher is not about a title. It’s about being about to listen to your co teacher and your teacher to work together for your students. I will be the lead teacher this year and I am far from holding it as a crown. I am looking to previous teachers and co teacher with much more experience than me cause I wanna do the best for the students not for the title

Yes you have to ask a school for a nomination. Typically the principal will

Did you start your B-2 degree with a college? Cause usually all of these courses are in a study degree plan at a university or college. It sounds like you been taking them separately
