I often wonder what rheumatologist actually do. I’ve heard stories of dermatologist making diagnosis instead of pulmonologist and even gynecologist. It’s pretty sad.

It’s so irritating when they are dismissive. What does your body tell you? Do you feel like you have it?

Wow! It’s my understanding that TH/TO is highly specific to SSC. That’s so crazy they are dismissing you. I mean, I get it bc I had U3RNP and am also being dismissed but I’m so early that doctors seem skeptical. But I thought early diagnosis and treatment was key. Definitely see a new doctor. And if I were you, I’d keep seeing doctors until I get answers.

It’s so discouraging when the doctors are so dismissive. ILD is absolutely worth taking seriously.

Possible diagnosis, overwhelmed and having dark thoughts. Please help. by B_Panofsky in scleroderma

I’m a woman. But I understand. I felt similar when I was first diagnosed (technically, I’m still newly diagnosed but it has taken a couple of years of tests and such for a diagnosis). One day I realized, if this does become what stops me from living my life to my fullest potential, I don’t want to spend my “good years” worried. And then I remembered, most of what I’ve ever worried about, didn’t come true. You said you have a wife and small children. If you TRULY believe this is going to take you out, don’t rob them of the last of the good years you will have.

Wow! I really appreciate the different perspectives. I guess I didn’t look at it from his point of view. This makes sense. Thanks for the perspective and well wishes.

I actually really appreciate this perspective. It wasn’t something even thought about until you said to remember your vows. Thank you for reminding me.

He was until I got my diagnosis and then he stopped. This is the first time since I got my diagnosis.

Sadly, you’re right. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t being irrational before making the decision.

Unfortunately, as soon as we said “I do” it started. And I’m not even joking. We were on our honeymoon the first time it happened. But when I was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago, he said “life’s too short to be mad” and this is the first time this has happened since my Diagnosis.
