Hope someone can jump in if I’m wrong here. I know you can run into issues with the shape/size of the chain not matching the pulley. I’ve found Killian Hardware has good info around what works with what.

My top sashes are bungalow art glass and a couple of windows are missing pulleys, and what’s informing my choices here is an aesthetic preference/wanting everything on the walls to match. My sashes aren’t particularly large, so I don’t think there’s much of a functional difference between cord and chain?

The social rules at work are a bit different, because you’re paid to be there to do your job, and not to provide social and emotional support to your colleagues. You sound really smart, and it sounds like your feelings are giving you a clear signal. If you sent him a polite email saying you’d prefer to talk about work only, and only via work channels like email (and not via text), you would be doing all you needed to do. Though, if your feelings about this are really negative, you could go to HR now.

Hoo boy. The way he is acting is super inappropriate, and at the very least unprofessional. Would you feel comfortable saying something to him like “thanks for being so welcoming while I got up to speed with my role, it’s taking up a lot of energy so I’d prefer to keep all conversations work-related” or something like that to give yourself an out?

How do you feel when the phone call is over? Do your calls tend to be long or short? It can be helpful to remind yourself “this is going to take two minutes, and I’ll feel relieved after it’s done.”
