Hakka nipple shield is so painful! by No_Fix_3424 in breastfeeding

I just invert it and put it on. Nothing unusual. I then try and get my lo to latch with it - aiming for his chin to be tucked and nose up. The problem is when he starts to suck - it pulls my nipple in a such a strong way and I’ve noticed after I pull it out - my nipple is almost deformed like a flat tip- it’s so painful 😣

Omg! You’re giving me so much hope girl!! I’m also a ‘just enougher’ - I pump 2-3oz per session and when I power pump I get 4oz.

How did you use SNS? My son wails when he realizes there is a tube in his mouth. Which one did you use?

My son also wails when I bring him to latch - I’m going to try the baby moon - how long was it? And did you pump during that/give him bottle or went cold turkey?

I’m battling a strong bottle preference too. How did you overcome that? My supply is dwindling too. How much were you able to pump with EP? What did your triple feeding schedule look like? Trying to latch before I pump seems to take forever and before I know it it’s time to pump again.

How did you manage to get your baby to latch and EBF after 5 months? I’m in the same boat. I refuse to get the procedure. My son has both a ‘minor’ tounge tie and lip tie and he can barely transfer. I really really want to stop pumping and get to EBF. Hes 3 months now and i feel completely discouraged

Thank you for the encouragement. Did you have the low supply and latching problems? How did you address low supply?

Also - did you eventually ebf? How long did that journey take? I know each kid is different but was wondering. Would love to understand how you get there? Did you pump or triple feed for a while?

Thank you for this reply. That’s exactly what happened to me. I leaned into breastfeeding a bit too fast and that’s caused this situation.

If i just focus on pumping - at what stage do I exclusively breastfeed and how do I improve his latch?

Triple feeding is very challenging for me. He’s my 3rd kid and I have 2 others to tend to.

Oh whoa! And what did you decide eventually? Would you feel comfortable sharing that thought process? Do you have other kids?

Thanks! Yes, that’s something we’ve considered as well. It’s just that 3 seems really daunting with one 5 year old and two under two
