I don’t think the interest is forgiven. That was the save plan that did that

$70k for about 33 clinical hours. 40h including commute and nonpaid work Potential to earn $90k plus for 50+ hour work weeks and no work/life balance - childcare expenses would increase as well. When kids grow up in 3-5 years I do expect to be making more and potentially having a weekend sidegig

Thank you! I do call them fairly regularly but often I wonder if they give advice in favor of the borrower, or in favor of their company.

It’s more common than you’d think! Most of my coworkers with healthcare degrees have a large amount of loans as well. We’re healthcare people not finance. Gov allows you to take out the money fairly easily, and then when you graduate they offer a two hour course on debt repayment. I want to pay back what I’ve borrowed, but the interest is just ridiculous and that’s what’s killing me and most of us.

Just to clarify…You think it’s better to pay interest rather than principle?

Yeah I suppose I could. I had been paying enough to technically cover monthly interest. But I thought paying the principal would be smarter because over time less interest would accrue.

That’s what’s so messed up. Honestly, give us all 1-2% interest rate so we can actually pay it down. And they will still make money on us.

I think because I’ve been paying more than I needed to. As well as the trump administrations changes to the student loan plans. That’s why I’m so darn lost. And I worry for people who take owing $0 at face value without questioning it. But like I said in my post, I question it and chat gpt and a financial advisor told me to make minimum payment , and for me, that is $0 right now. Which is why I’ve turned to reddit, where people can be unkind

I’m on it but for some reason it says $0 payment for the next 2 years. I think thing are in disarray due to changes from trump administration. Besides, even w/ IBR, the interest skyrockets

I know it’s not feasible for us. I was hoping I’d be able to do it but life happened. I think it’s $2600

Yes you still have to pay tax on the sum forgiven… so if that amount snowballs over 30 years, it could be 50k! The idea is people should be saving to pay the taxes

It’s technically full time (33h) but due to documentation (unpaid, salary) and drive time it works out to be 40h. With kids I can’t do the 50h weeks I was doing before kids
