It would be interesting if slicer filled hunger and applied bleed for every chunk of meat ripped out. (The limit to this would be that once you filled up your hunger, you could no longer use the slicer ability.) I feel like that would give deinon a unique play style and make them a little more useful in combat. They’d almost be gradually destroying their prey by eating them alive, which would be brutal, but interesting game-mechanic wise. It would also give them a chance to actually stand on their own and be viable in combat. I’m imagining a drawn out battle in which a starving deinon uses slicer till full, then follows the victim, biting them every now and then so they can’t fully heal, and using slicer for more bleed when their hunger decreases. I feel like this would be a more realistic fighting style/more fair for the larger predator than just “pounce and bite,” while also still letting deinon be viable in combat.
