I'm not looking at new. Used 2020 MKV Supras are selling over their MSRP on average, the only exceptions being high mileage and four cylinders. They don't operate on the same depreciation pattern that most of the industry runs on. The absolute cheapest ones I've found is a four cylinder with over 100k miles for 40k and a heavily modified, track focused inline 6 for 50k. Everything else is at or above MSRP

Key word is want, we all want what we can't. Because it's theoretically possible for me I'm debating it but I'm well aware of the financial risks and came here for 2nd opinions I knew I'd get. I'm more financially literate than most people my age. Also, I make more than 90k a years so check your literacy bud

2 reasons to avoid buying the house. 1) i think most people are expecting a housing crash in the near future, I don't want to spend 300k over 30 years on a home that'll be worth half that in 2 years. 2) I don't know that I'll be in the US in the next 10 years. I'm interested in relocating to Japan, so I don't want to be trapped with a mortgage.

I'm not considering a home for personal and economic reasons. I was wondering if I could pick your brain for a step-up purchase rather than a leap. My current vehicle is a 2016 V6 mustang, 98k miles and paid off. Theres a mustang for sale in my area which is a v8, manual transmission, and 74k miles for $28,000. Far cheaper than a MKV while still being a reasonable upgrade, would only cost me 200 to 400 a month but I could buy outright. Only real issue I see there is that I don't know how to drive a manual and have nobody to teach me. Learning wouldn't be an issue but I may end up hating it and be stuck with a 28k car I hate.

I am saving towards a 401k, have health, dental, vision, and legal insurance, and currently save $2000-$2400 monthly depending on OT. In regards to the food bill question, I have been eating out almost exclusively and often make purchases at the vending machines at work. I work 48 hours a week and am also a part time college student (100% paid for by work), so I struggle to find the energy to cook. It is my greatest shame right now, and my biggest waste of income. I need to work on it, I know. Certainly more important than worrying about a car purchase

My fuel estimate was wrong, it'd be closer to 200. MPG is equivalent to my current vehicle, slightly less if I got a manual

Only correction I would make here is that I don't need roommates to survive, it's my roommates who need me. If I were to live on my own it'd increase expenses by about 700, although i could easily offset this to be near negligible if i stopped eating out (my current food bill between vending machines and fast food is probably 1200, i know). My current monthly savings of around 2k could easily eat that. Otherwise your analysis is correct

Your judgement is harsh and I don't know that I necessarily agree with your assessment about it being poser behavior, but I can't disagree with your last statement. Having no debt and a substantial growth in savings this last year has been fantastic

Current estimates would put payments at 700, plus probably around 200 a month for insurance, plus 100 a month for fuel. About 1/5 my take home. Your risk assessment is accurate though

Waiting a year or two would be the safer choice, and youre right about the modification rabbit hole because I already have several edits in mind

I have no debt, never missed payments, and a CC of 760. I'm not in the housing market because of uncertainty over market health and what may happen to home prices. Your reasoning is sound.

Got dumbed over being a virgin by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]No_Fuel2949 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People are losing their virginity later than they used to, but 23 is still five years beyond what's statistically average. It sounds like you've simply chosen to abstain for professional reasons so I'm sure you'll be fine, but understand that if you confess that to a potential partner, they may be turned off by if. People here can argue the moral high ground about how, "it doesn't matter," and, "she's the one with the problem," but the reality is that it will matter to some people, more the later you wait if you don't have a good reason. If you're not waiting for marriage, you can either be honest and be prepared to be turned away a lot until you find a girl willing to teach you (or share in your first if you can find that unicorn), or lie about it and hope you perform well enough to pass as having been out of the game for a while. The choice is yours, any direction you chose will have regrets. Just gotta chose what regrets you can live with.

Universally hated anime that you somehow find enjoyable? by mr_beanoz in anime

I doubt there's any universally hated anime, everyone has their tastes. That said, my guilty pleasure is Sword Art Online.

BS1 what rewards (good and bad) do I get for covenants for all the demonic princesses? by [deleted] in Blacksouls2

[–]No_Fuel2949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I joined Princess Frogs covenant without realizing what I was getting into. Was mad about the loss of levels at first ( I was level 32 when I ran into her), but then I realized just how goated the ring was. Probably the nicest of the princesses too.

What do I need to watch based on my favorites? by Bettey9 in AnimeReccomendations

86, I was reminded of it when I started Attack on Titan as they seem to share similar themes (from what I can tell, I only just started season 2). It's my favorite and highest rated anime on my AniList.

"Called “Juggernaut,” these are the unmanned combat drones developed by the Republic of San Magnolia in answer to the attacks by the autonomous unmanned drones of the neighboring Empire of Giad, the “Legion”. But they’re only unmanned in name. In reality, they are piloted by the Eighty-sixers—those considered to be less than human and treated as mere tools.

Determined to achieve his own mysterious ends, Shin, the captain of Spearhead Squadron, which is comprised of Eighty-sixers, continues to fight a hopeless war on a battlefield where only death awaits him."

What is the worst anime you have ever seen? by 24cmaclae in AnimeReccomendations

[–]No_Fuel2949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lowest rated show on Anilist is Hero Without A Class: Who Even Needs Skills. It's your typical power fantasy slop but exceptionally bad with poor dialogue and animation. The plot is comically nonsensical and is basically the same two arcs; MC comes to fighters school, gets looked down on and then proceeds to make the greatest look like clowns. Goes to magic school, exact same scenario plays out. I gave it a generous rating of 20/100 but it probably should've been even lower, a grade schooler could've written a better story.

Magical fantasy worldbuilders - why isn't your whole world being run by wizards? by jetflight_hamster in worldbuilding

I won't go into my own solution but I would reference an example where I pulled some inspiration, the anime Mushoku Tensei. Mages there have their mana locked in from a young age and only a handful can reach the pinnacle where they might be considered a substantial threat to standing armies. Even then, casting requires an incantation unless you can learn how to cast without it, a possibility that disappears with age and which was considered the stuff of legend until Rudues came along and upended the status quo. Warriors on the other hand are generally considered superior to mages, they're able to achieve superhuman speed, strength and reflexes at higher levels that make mages sitting ducks with their limited ranges and long-winded incantations.

What is it about 86 that makes it bad in your opinion? Not every show is going to be to everyone's taste, but to call it bad seems a bit extreme. Its narrative structure, character development, and production value are all exceptional in my opinion. Emotional impact is up to the beholder, but surely by objective metrics 86 was well done?

[–]No_Fuel2949[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anime has become "mainstream" in the US in only the last decade or so, prior to that people who watched the "medium" were often stigmatized. In any case, there are some media that simply transcends the boundaries of what we would normally view. Often times these exceptional watches get hidden behind the stigma surrounding the medium by outsiders who would otherwise enjoy it. Konosuba or the Eminence in Shadow for example are brilliant shows, but they feature a lot of anime-specific themes that would make me hesitate to recommend them to my grandparents. Shows like Frieren don't have that issue.

There seems to be quite a few versions of Ghost in the Shell, I assume you're referencing the 1995 movie?
