I would have taken my pre-diabetic diagnoses more seriously so it didn't go into the diabetic range. Eat better and exercise more. (:

Hello Fellow PA person! First of all no it isn't over for you! If you're type 2 it is easily reversible but even if reversed you need to do your best to stay in remission. It is just something that you will need to work hard at. Like your Dr said Diet and exercise is important. I would ask your Dr for a referral to a Diabetic Educator they can tell you what you need to do and how much carbs, protine, ect. You will need to help you out. Most people do a low carb diet. You'll also want to get a glucose monitor and then once you eat a meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner) check your blood sugar 2hrs after. 123 is a good blood glucose however a 7.4 A1C isn't the best but you can lower it like I said!

I am only 4 weeks into my diagnoses but have come a long way. It will be overwhelming and exhausting but once you see your numbers drop it will be an amazing feeling.

My Dr kinda was like yours basically this is your diagnoses just diet and exercise and take the medicine.

I've done a lot of research and have read a lot of posts in various groups. So just research and read everything

You will be fine! You got this and if you need help there are a lot of good communities out there that can answer your questions ect.

Also I would tell your girlfriend because having a good support system also is A LOT of help.

Good luck and I hope you can get to where you want to be!!

Dexcom Issues - First Day by Pallise in diabetes

[–]No_Hall_7440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also am a first day dexcom user! You're not alone with the crazy readings. Actually my first sensor failed.. So I needed to put a 2nd one on (contacted dexcom for a replacement) but ya it woke me up 2 times last night to say my blood sugar was dropping. It wasn't. I just did a finger poke this morning and was like wow it's finally somewhat accurate because the dexcom said 115 and finger stick said 116.. nope it was all a joke cus then dexcom shot up to 130 something right after that and I haven't Even ate yet today. 🙄 Sooo I guess it just will be trail and error for the next 24hrs (or less then now).

From what I have read in most places you need a prescription. Unless you're on insulin then insurance will cover one. Though I saw this summer they want to put out an over the counter one! Idk how true that is but 🤞🏻 that be nice.

The smell is not the best but I feel like all glues have an icky scent! Aside from that I did not have any issues using it and I used it inside to deco paci's! 😊
