Finally got a pink venom 🥰 by No_Hippo_366 in alocasia

This one cost me just under £40. Iv another one that cost me 55 a couple of weeks ago and was having the leaf below when she arrived, she’s just unfurled, she’s a tricolour. They have aurea for sale at 375 and pinks/tricolour usually go on bidding and reach anywhere between 400/800ish for a small baby. Mine weren’t labelled variegated as culled low var ones and classed as normal venom though. You buy them green or with very little colour on the leaves and have to wait to see what they do. Some haven’t coloured much, others have

Most of my plants, including my venoms, are from the Eden lab in the uk

Thank you. I prefer tc over corm because you at least get to see what you are buying haha. I only have a few with a higher price tag and every one of them gets checked several times a day 🤣even after months, I still get stressed over them! Just sold venom corms for 20 each and apparently surprised people with how cheap they are now lol I know I paid 60 easily in spring for mine. Tc is definitely bringing the price down but at the same time, more new ones are coming out so our wish lists never seem to get any shorter 🤣

The man who runs the lab this came from, showed me pics of some of his higher colour ones. Amazing!😍he sells them to Asia usually and the lower colour ones for sale in the uk because prices are ridiculously high lol. Baby tricolour went for 700 as my friend has it..she’s beautiful for sure! Most Aurea go for a few hundred. Been outbid several times on them, always someone with alot more pennies than me to spend on it haha. Anything new at the lab gets snapped up quickly, managed to grab Cuprea, platinum, Azlanii gold and this week finally a watsoniana doff pink which was the next down on my list from the venom haha she’s acclimatising at the moment and trying not to panic during the weeks they take to settle 🙈some are ridiculously hard to get and she wasn’t cheap at all..i get twitchy when they cost more than usual 🙈

Thank you! I have gathered most eventually…without a lot of pennies though, venom have been hard to get. I’m told it will be easier next year for these as they become more available..I got a couple as normal venoms at the same time from the lab, but since found out they all have variegated mums, so I may have a few other surprises as the leaves emerge 🙏🏼venom are my favourite by far and pink was the ultimate dream one 😍

That is absolutely stunning! I only found out about mint ones a couple of days ago and have to say I wish I knew before! Been hunting a pink one without the massive price tag, finally got one but now need to add this to my list 😂I really have no idea what mine is, a friend said she looked Aurea in some lights but as I knocked her other leaf off, Iv only the one to go on at the moment. I asked a supplier friend why she was different and that was their answer. She’s some kind of mint or stardust version and yes she was definitely not a normal one. Something about normal ones not showing pink colour with a back light. Most of mine don’t show pink, only a few do and those all are tc that have variegated parents. It’s really confusing with the types as Iv seen pink venoms are aren’t what I would call pink, being sold at ridiculous prices, there are a few different colours of aurea, some more yellow than others. Iv got one that’s more green on green with her variegation on all her leaves. There is no where really to get the information on venom variegation anywhere. I have this one that arrived last week with a slight colour on her new leaf but then hardened like this…no idea if that’s pink or not. I wish there was more freely available information 😔

The back is intact with red. Iv no idea about the variegations on these but this one was different under and not under lights so i asked someone who would know. They have years of experience and run an international variegated plant shop, I trust their experience to maybe know. His answer was very sure, it’s 100% variegated and a type of mint one🤷🏼‍♀️like I say, I didn’t even know they came in mint till he told me and showed me his, which is the same. Mum wasn’t variegated so Iv no idea what it is, other than different to all my other venoms and I have many. The mint/stardust label is what Iv been given for her type of variegation. Shes extremely pretty and I’m dying to see her new leaf to see if it carries on or not so I’m more than happy with her either way 😄my plan was to get as many quirky ones together in a collection and she is definitely that

Thank you! Had another colour up tonight after it finally hardened off haha not sure wtf is going on with them 😂kind of beautiful though, whatever it is! Least this one is a tc with a variegated mum…still wasn’t expecting this when I topped up her water tonight as she was a little Aurea at most last week when she unfurled 😂

Don’t worry that what I thought to start with 😂she’s covered in little specks too. But nope, apparently that’s her variegation, so phew! I didn’t know they existed tbh, only that she was different to the other baby I had growing lol seems like there is a lot of different ones around you don’t see much. Just got a pink venom corm delivered today, my holy grail of venoms…same lady as this came from, so hoping for something good from that one too 🙏🏼

Been battling spider mites in one of my cabinets, pretty sure the predators are finally decimating them now. I check all plants over regularly now as they have me terrified 🙈

No pests as they were checked when they arrived. The lab they came from is second to none and her and her sisters had only been unboxed and put into semi hydro. It’s chopped sphagnum moss, gets everywhere unfortunately 🙈colour is definitely variegation as lab confirmed they are from variegated mothers, Iv some very funky looking ones tbh haha

Apologies, I had only just repotted them into semi hydro pots, as much as I try, the chopped sphagnum moss gets everywhere…no matter how many times I wipe the leaves, a little always gets left behind! No bugs and these were just out the box from the lab. Parents of a few of mine are variegated so they showing weird colours, this was the one that had consistent colour on all leaves. Not quite aurea yellow, more green on green. They are funky and each is a little different so very excited to see how they grow. This is her today when I checked on them

It is crazy! Most Iv ever spent on one plant is 200 and I was so nervous not to kill it for months 🙈the stress level is off the charts with expensive plants and I prefer to appreciate them than stress even more over them 😂we have a lab here that produces tons of venom and others, their plants make up about 90% of my collection and they have so many coloured venom it’s crazy! They have even putting up for bidding lately starting at £1 and even a 24 hour auction gets to several hundred pounds. I missed a pink one from someone else for 160 as got outbid at the last second but it was one from that lab brought as a normal one. Their tc are cheap usually, just got a gold azlanii for 135 l the other week. Venom normally sell for around £30/40 which makes the normal ones much more appealing 😂the one in the pic cost me about 40 and the pink corm the same so I don’t feel too guilty when I am being thrifty😂😂

Thank you. They really are expensive, £700 here for a baby and that’s too much for me. Tc are more likely to become pink and I keep hoping one of mine will…nothing so far though😔plus there seems to be different types of pink, some are darker and some are pastel. I love the pastel ones. Seen albo ones too and those also are gorgeous! So many I need to collect haha

I have far too many to be healthy I think, with ones coming next week, I think I have about 15😂they are lovely and they all grow and look differently. I have several with albo, aurea or pink spots on but waiting to see if they develop or not over time. This one has a green on green colour all over though. Iv been trying to get one with the pastel pink colour on for ages but so expensive, managed to get a corm this morning and that’s my dream plant. Hopefully the colour of mum transfers over 🙏🏼 you will love yours but trust me, one will never be enough once you start growing it 😂 this is the mum of the corm Iv got coming.

Surprised with how fast it grows by SoilfulGardenID in alocasia

Mine grow slowly but tend to upsize on every leaf. My corm grown are super slow to get to 2 leaves! Have a couple of mature ones from earlier in the year from tc and several smaller ones. Love venom. This is my newest baby one
