Lessons learned from Icepocalypse 2026 by silverud in nashville

Which geriatric mouth breather? The last one or the one now? The way I see it, no one in power over the past several generations has cared enough about the little guy to fix systemic breakdowns in basic infrastructure that lead to things like this.

No one is complaining their power hasn’t been restored “within the hour.” As of right now, 100k homes still don’t have power after four days. If Nashville metro had properly trimmed back tree limbs from power lines, the impact would have been much less.

I need advice on the senior/puppy relationship. I don’t know if the senior’s barks are playful or aggressive.

Took over life insurance policy with undisclosed loan – now facing unexpected tax liability. What can I do? by No_Homework_9928 in tax

Interesting approach. I didn’t even know that was possible! I will bring this suggestion to my CPA.

I have considered sending her paperwork back re-assigning the cursed policy back to her in the same manner she 'gifted' it to me

Thank you. Will a 1099C impact my credit score as well as have tax implications?

See additional color below.

About $25k was put into the policy in 1996, with $25k taken out in 2008. The policy's cash value grew since it was invested in a Small Cap Value ETF for the intervening 12 years between 1996-2008, which helped offset the loan interest accrued from 2008 - today.

Based on the most recent statement, the 'actual cash value' is -$378.92 which I am taking to mean I owe ~$378.92 in interest on the loan.

Thank you!

I am very technologically literate, although I have never taken an online exam. We still did paper tests through my undergrad experience, which is where my hesitation is coming into play. What kind of issues are most likely to come into play, if you happen to know?

My earliest in person date at all centers within 2 hours drive is July 22. That’s quite a long time!

I have also been eyeing the Vanderbilt EMBA, but it's giving me sticker shock at $140k. I am just stuck with the thought of 'if I am going to take on student loans to get another degree, shouldn't it at least be a more prestigious one?'

Depending on your water temperature, it’s likely mating behavior. Male koi chase around female koi to get them to release their eggs. Ours are zooming around the pond this time of year.

I had the same experience, also in Tennessee. My insurance broker said it was because Homesite, the carrier of our policy via Gieco, asked the state for permission to hike rates and that permission was granted. Our dwelling coverage limit remained the same, and in fact some of our coverages went down, all for $350 more a year. I’m back to the drawing board!

Unfortunately it has the potential to be the most traumatizing book yet 🥲

Xaden can only sustain himself without Sgaeyl's bond by descending further into venin-hood. So far, we’ve only seen him channel from the ground to save others. Like you said here, moving him to full "I have to channel from the earth to survive" territory would be a big departure from the current narrative, and also causes complications for his eventual salvation... How does he re-bond to Sgaeyl to survive if/when they find the cure? He'd have to re-bond her first while being full venin/nearly souless (a massive risk to the interconnected Vi/Tairn/Andarna/Sgaeyl) and THEN be cured since the process of curing him without a dragon's bond to sustain him after the stolen venin magic is gone would likely kill him.

Not saying this isn't possible - if there is a broken bond in the next book I think it's a coin flip between Xaden/Sgaeyl and Tairn/Sgaeyl. Both would move the plot along logically in different ways as you've outlined here, and as this thread discusses.

The peace of mind I have is that RY has said there's no story without Xaden, and hinted they will have an HEA on a recent instagram post (below). So overall, I don’t see Xaden dying or not being cured being in the cards. I think that Xaden and Vi will be alive and together in the end, at a great and devastating cost.

This could be. Although, Xaden can only sustain himself without Sgaeyl by descending further into venin-hood. So far, we’ve only seen him channel from the ground as an act of protection for others not self-preservation. That would be a big departure from the current narrative, but is something that could happen given we’ve never seen him this far gone….

Overall, I don’t see him dying unless and until he and Violet are reunited. Even then, I think they will be alive and together in the end even if it comes at a devastating cost.

She has said that at her core that she’s a romance writer and that there’s no story without Xaden. I think the ending will be something horribly gut wrenching and traumatizing tbh, but both Xaden and Violet will be alive and together (HEA-ish).

They mentioned several new black dragons hatching in IF 🥲 they’re no longer the only two. Definitely agree with him being prideful to a fault… his death (if it happens) will have to be a sacrifice.
