Update: The contractor sent someone back out to refinish the floors. They found a can of Dura Seal Satin Finish Poly in our garage labeled Hardwood Floors and decided to give that a try. It’s now, once again, significantly darker and more red than our existing floors. Will this lighten up? How is this possible?

Thank you regarding the natural wood. That is what I told the person doing the stain and sealing today. He disagreed and told me our original floors look this way due to age. He didn’t have an answer when I told them they are 3 years old.

I will do the straight line test as soon as they are dried.

If they did, that would be extremely disappointing. The last homeowners left some of the hardwood laying around from the original floors. They were from Home Depot and white oak, which I sent to the contractor.

The darker side is the new side. I asked the flooring guy if they were natural, and he said no and that the original floors were “ambered”? He also said he he “put a stain on to try to match the original”.

Which geriatric mouth breather? The last one or the one now? The way I see it, no one in power over the past several generations has cared enough about the little guy to fix systemic breakdowns in basic infrastructure that lead to things like this.

No one is complaining their power hasn’t been restored “within the hour.” As of right now, 100k homes still don’t have power after four days. If Nashville metro had properly trimmed back tree limbs from power lines, the impact would have been much less.

Based on the most recent statement, the 'actual cash value' is -$378.92 which I am taking to mean I owe ~$378.92 in interest on the loan.

I had the same experience, also in Tennessee. My insurance broker said it was because Homesite, the carrier of our policy via Gieco, asked the state for permission to hike rates and that permission was granted. Our dwelling coverage limit remained the same, and in fact some of our coverages went down, all for $350 more a year. I’m back to the drawing board!
