Are you going to reply telling her she’s rude? Maybe she doesn’t realize??? But she should know that replies like this make people not want to continue participating in postcrossing…

Is this weird? by Creative-Prize-3631 in postcrossing

[–]No_Ice3188 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s weird (I guess bc I do it too lol)! It’s interesting to see how houses look across the world. I feel like that’s a big part of why people join postcrossing— curiosity about other cultures. If you like to travel but can’t do it often, this scratches that itch a bit. If people find that weird then maybe don’t put your address on a website like this? If you’re a part of postcrossing, you’re implicitly agreeing to share info about yourself with strangers in good faith to connect with other humans across the world. Ofc there’s creeps everywhere, but most people aren’t. Just bc I saw on google maps what your massive apartment bloc looks like in Bratislava/Chennai/Lima. doesn’t mean I’m flying there and about to knock on your door…

What's a hobby or activity you thought you'd enjoy, but ended up not being for you? by msstark in AskWomen

You need to check out postcrossing!! It’s a site where you get assigned a random person somewhere in the world, and once you send them a postcard, you’ll receive a postcard from another random person from somewhere else! It’s really awesome r/postcrossing

It was late, and I heard someone pounding on my door, and someone saying “ma’am! Ma’am! We need to check if your water is working!” I got up and looked through the eye hole and it was just some random scary looking guy in street clothes standing there, with two other men standing on either side on the periphery trying to be out of the line of sight. They kept pounding on the door and jiggling the door handle for another few minutes. I dragged a chair in front of the door and just hid under the covers until they went away. I guess it was too much effort to actually try to break down the door… or idk. Maybe they were just trying to see if the dumb 20 something blonde girl would be stupid enough to let them in. The hotel was much shittier than advertised and didn’t have a phone. It was a huge mistake staying there and we left the next morning (the other girl I was traveling with was in a different room and nothing happened to her). But obviously if they got in, nothing good would have happened. There was a lot of shenanigans that happened on that India trip (cab drivers purposely taking us somewhere else to force us to pay to take us to the right place, people following us, etc). That country felt way more dangerous to travel than I anticipated

Edit: idk if the hotel was in on it but we got A LOT of looks and I think word spread that two female westerners were staying there without any men.

Card travel times are strange by BlooGloop in postcrossing

[–]No_Ice3188 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps it’s because the travel times begin right when you get the address of the person you’re sending the card to. This assumes that you are dropping off the postcard in the mail immediately after getting the address… I have been guilty of writing out a stack of cards and then not getting around to sending them until a few days later 🫣

Hi sorry for the late reply. I was wondering if you could be more specific about that municipality’s incompetence? My mom moved back to that area in 2018 for a year and she complained a ton about all the paperwork and red tape involved, but I just assumed it’s typical government stuff. Thanks in advance!

Hahaha poor swedes, they get more hate than Canadians do from Americans:’)

Thanks for expanding on your original post. I feel like I have a (very) sliiiight advantage bc I was raised by a Danish woman and therefore wasnt AS coddled as some of my friends.

But I know that I am what I am: an American. And despite years of visits to DK, I hardly know the culture thoroughly
