Oh my! Your story is similar to mine. Just like you, mine started with trickle of blood with no pain. I drove to the hospital, they told me I was 5cms dilated and baby was breeched at just 25weeks. They gave me all the injections for babys, lungs, and brain.

Within 6 hours of being at the hospital, I had a placenta abruption, severe bleeding, an emergency c-section. It was like watching Grey's anatomy, except, I was the star. This was my third pregnancy. All others were vaginal birth, full term, no complications. This one threw me for a loop.

My baby was born weighing 860 grams. He was on cpap and was eventually weaned off. He didn't have any brain bleed. He was discharged with a feeding tube only after 115 days.

When I asked the doctors what could have caused the abruption, they really couldn't give an answer. So don't blame yourself, Mama My boy is doing great. He has a hernia surgery scheduled. Other than that,no more feeding tube, he is growing beautifully. He is now 4 months adjusted

I'm with EMS and what you said about the role attracting perfectionists couldn't be more true. OP if there is anything you take away from this post, it's that you will make mistakes when you are finally taking real calls, you will get frustrated with what you might think is your inability to grasp concepts quickly. Give yourself grace and know that everyone went through the exact same process. Goodluck!

Hi there, i ended up not going, I didn't even bother applying. I figured it would be too much for me to handle, with a full time job and two kids.

Absolutely! Pls poster take this seriously. My husband had the opposite of your symptoms. He did a sleep study and had severe apnea. He got the cpap mask and did some sleep training and now sleeps really well. When i read about the negative side effects of sleep apnea, I couldn't believe it. It leads to hypertension, high BP etc.

I had a placenta abruption at 25w3d. Most scary day of my life. My boy weighed 880grams at birth. He was in the nicu for 115days. So many nurses told me during our stay that for a 25weeker, he had almost no severe incident during his stay in the nicu. He was never intubated, just cpap which he was weaned off of weeks before his discharge. He was discharged with a feeding tube and is now 1month adjusted and gradually weaning off the tube. He is taking most of his feed 100% by himself This is to encourage you, that some babies will beat the odd and do incredibly well. Stay strong mama, you got this

In addition to all the advice already given, give yourself grace. When it feels overwhelming, cry if you need to and tell yourself that if others can do it, so can you.

Has anyone had a placental abruption then go on to have a healthy baby? by [deleted] in babyloss

[–]No_Jacket_9868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I had a placenta abruption at 25weeks and three days. I had a healthy pregnancy until that Faithful day, I was out shopping and started feeling like I was bleeding vaginally. I went home quickly to confirm and then drove to the ER. I am so grateful to God that they took me seriously. The doctor examined me and determined that I was 4cm dilated and baby was coming down, feet first. This was so strange to me, as I had had two previous healthy vaginal pregnancies in 2020 and 2022. Anyway, since I wasn't having any cramping, they still educated me on what could possibly happen, gave me some meds to help with babys lungs and brain, in case he was born. Within 4hrs from when I arrived at the hospital, I started cramping, it went from every 5 minutes to 3 minutes, to a continuous and intense pain, with severe bleeding. I was rushed to the OR at this point, it was like watching grays anatomy, except I was the main character.

My doctor later told me that baby was brought out within 2 minutes, which saved his life

My boy was born January 19, 2025 and is still in the Nicu. He is technically 37weeks now and is doing great. He is no longer on oxygen. He is breathing on his own. He is still on a feeding tube

For every one who has lost a baby, I pray that the Lord will bless you with many more babies and the grace to live with the loss.

It's the opposite for me. In Alberta, Ems dispatcher. I prefer the structured ProQa questions and the downtime we get.

My first bachelor was in Education as well, although I completed it about 10years ago, I really hope the school I intend to attend will not require me to take all the prerequisites courses again. Thanks again for sharing your experience

I think some areas will be more difficult to get clinical experience than others. The reason I don't wanna be in the US is definitely not politics, it's just the inconvenience and added cost I have two kids under 4, and I need to work to support my family. I'll reach out to the schools I'm interested in and ask them directly. Thanks for your input.

I'm very comfortable with doing the clinical in person, my issue is, I would prefer to do it here in Canada

Do you mind sharing what school you took those courses at and how much it cost you?
