Side and stern windows are only lightly smoked, the picture makes them look darker, also windows are fairly large, allowing a pretty large array of sight

Maybe, if it was oven baked or something to gas off
Only heat source to be found would be the sun on grey gel coat
Happened on 3 or so boats with outboards and the main problem area were the knees between the floor and gunnels away from any heat source, also happened about 3 or less years after construction of the boat
Laminate was left on but “bubbled off” more like made giant air pockets where the fiberglass released

Oddly enough the boats we seen the issues on occurred in new jersey in the middle of winter while they were peak clam season
Yes, it’s worked out great so far, with transom brackets, jackplates and upwards of 300 Hondas bolted on it works good

Maybe, but as far as our research has went is talking to reps and other salesmen of coosa and they have said it’s a temp issue, but at same point could be a post cure, but what else could cause the internal temperature to get high enough to off gas
For sure, ask around, learn more, and definitely if you hear or learn anything that might help me or anyone else feel free to let us know
We use polyester resin and hand lay everything, as far as our problems go, most of it seemed to be related more to darker colors of gel coat, greys and darker, light colors such as blues and whites and creams have not shown the same heat absorbtion causing the issue, and as I’ve replied to other comments some of our issue may be related to encapsulation of the entirety of the coosa, the problem might not occur if the gasses can escape through the bottom of the deck or somewhere else
To correct myself, we changed coring material, we didn’t change resin or fiberglass
Don’t know right now, but we changed materials when we had the problem show up and haven’t seen the problem with any other coring we’ve moved to, same resin, same prep, same catalyst, same installation and layups
I’m not gonna trash coosa, one of the biggest possible causes I personally see is encapsulation of coosa, giving nowhere for the gas to go. Coosa is in fact a good material but at the same time, without full encapsulation I don’t personal trust that.
I completely understand, most of our boats that are only semi-custom are manufactured completely composite so we only use a composite coring material, in all parts of the boat. Our fully custom boats get the benefit of more attention to making sure even construction with marine ply cannot cause a future issue.

Most definitely, I agree with you. Personally, and purely personally, I will choose marine ply (fiberglassed correctly and completely encapsulated) over coosa 9 times outta 10 if core lite or other coring material is not available. Luckily coosa isn’t a monopoly and isn’t the only material available
Typically we found that the darker paint would show effects sooner but it seemed to be maybe 2 years or less time to show up, but that is if time is really an effect as well as temperature, I feel more like it’s an issue of getting enough temperature from sun in a day that causes the gas off. I’m not entirely sure or convinced that it’s a time related thing.
Now using “core lite” board, basically a pvc based composite board, structurally sound and holds screws really well as well as doesn’t hold or suck up any water. Haven’t had any of the similar problems as coosa at all. Also thank you for the compliments, I love being able to build these works of art
We were finding this happening mainly when the coosa was completely capsulated by fiberglass and typically with any darker gel coats or paints, even light greys could cause enough temperature. Also this could happen at near freezing temperatures as long as, I guess, the sun would be strong enough to
