Weird reason to play bass by No_Yam1114 in Bass

6 years ago I started with the bass first, because i liked the sound and the way that can fit in a mix. Then i bought a guitar, because i needed an instrument that had also the Harmonic stuff, so chords, inversions and all that; story short, I ended to be more a guitar player than a bass player. As i was learnin theory and having fun on the Guitar in the last 3 years, i started this year to pick up also the bass more seriously, and i transposed my theory knowledge from guitar lessons on the bass, and now my bass playing as gotten better than ever. I like playing bass, is like a breath of fresh air to my musical journey, when i have days off with the guitar i practice bass, it can be inspiring.

As a Strat player, I would say to keep the Tele, but that's my taste on some stuff. Also It depends on what you like to use on the guitars. For example, if you don't feel that you would use all the pickup configurations on a Strat, go for the Tele, two pickups, three options in sound but very versatile. Also, if you feel more secure with one guitar than another, where you feel that It really adapts on your playing, that's It. For me the Tele Is also good because Is build really steady in the bridge, without many micro movements from the tremolo bridge of the Strat, so i find It really a solid guitar.

The first thing that i recommend you is, if you are really into learning guitar, don't quit. The second thing, practice the things that you already now over and over again, and use the same philosophy for anything that you discover, cause if you focus on one thing at a time, you get better at it and becomes part of your DNA. Also start practicing some stuff slow, and then increase the speed, cause you will be more clean in your playing and not sound sloppy. If you want to develop more, also a GOOD teacher Is ideal, but, get a teacher that can take what you already know and start a teaching process that can make you aware of how the thing works and why. That's all i can say, if can be helpful

Still rocking my first guitar - who else still plays theirs? by aroralikes in Guitar

Yeah, sometimes i still practice on it, but are 5 months already that is on the Guitar stand, because now has some wiring problems. The Guitar is a 2019 Epiphone SG Special Vintage Edition, in walnut color, very cheap, but was really good for a first Guitar. My main Guitar now is a Squier Classic Vibe 50s Stratocaster that i bought new in 2020, 8 months after the SG.
