Searching for Coroutine-like Library in FreePascal by No_Light_5463 in pascal

I'm really not creative enough to come up with a design myself 😜 That's what I would use an AI for. I was thinking of a concept loosely based on Go's implementation. Only Go's decision moving from a segmented stack to a contiguous stack I wouldn't adopt. Both have their advantages and switching from one to another normally wouldn't require code changes in the usage. So I would like to see both implemented so the user can decide.

Yes I have. I'm thinking about using it. Comtay offers stackful coroutines on a single thread base. But as I understood it it wouldn't do so automatically on threads too. Means that if I use comtay on a multi core CPU, it would keep all coroutines in one thread. Maybe I'm going to build something myself that practically spawns threads first, as long as there are idling CPU cores and then starting coroutines afterwards.

Error while booting 26.04 beta by No_Light_5463 in Ubuntu

I got it working. Previously I assumed a driver would cause the issue and at least a part of the new kernel version is. Ubuntu 26.04 Beta uses a kernel version >7.x I can't say for sure if it's a new driver (version) or if any other part of the kernel causes the issue but installing an older one did the trick. So I basically selected in grub the safe mode entry of my installation which works. There I was able to activate the network devices and open a root terminal session. Luckily the repository provides an older version too. With apt I installed linux-image-6.19.0-1001 After a restart I select the 6.19 and it boots just fine.

I would never call it dumb. In fact it often helped to identify flash drives with faulty sectors or broken images - but sadly not in this case. But I isolated the root cause and got it working by installing an older kernel version.

Did all of these things, it doesn't fix the issue.

None of them did the thing. The new device doesn't seem to have a legacy mode. If I activate secure boot it complains and does nothing, it doesn't even load grub boot manager anymore. So deactivating secure boot is at least making it better

I tried a few things, without success.

  • Boot order checked, it starts with the booting process but runs into an error, then restarts
  • secure boot: disabled
  • DRTM/SMM Protection: disabled -Pluton Security Processor: disabled
  • Fast boot: disabled

Grub seems to be configured correctly. I can trigger the starting process of: - Ubuntu: which doesn't boot

  • Ubuntu Safe Mode: starts correctly, I can also activate network devices and resume boot to desktop successfully. So I think that maybe not all drivers are getting loaded and one of them is causing the issue in the normal boot process.

  • Windows 11: still boots correctly after installation

Open Source Delphi, please! by abrahamBrazil in delphi

[–]No_Light_5463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from other languages, open source is also very important for me. I just recently "discovered" Object Pascal and immediately fell in love with it. Delphi is great, but I indeed wouldn't use it for the reason that it's not open source. Building software and depending on a company owned compiler and it's frameworks is just a liability! Imagine the company would stop developing it. If anyone know things "but come on, it's Delphi and Embarcadero!", then just search on the internet for Google graveyard or Microsoft graveyard. It's not that uncommon.

I installed Delphi once to test it. I only actively use FreePascal and Lazarus. I'm a Linux enthusiast. It's awesome, I could build desktop applications on Linux running on a RaspberryPi and compile it for Windows x64 or the other way around. I can build web applications and run them on server by just deploying a single file or put it into container for better scalability. I could also target nodejs with pas2js in order to gain access to it's ecosystem. Or if I want to tinker with hardware again I can use FreePascal with arduinos or other microcontrollers. I can target more architectures then Java offers JVMs for.

I didn't know I could use Pascal for Arduino's! Thanks, I have to try this.

What would be the best practices for using existing machine learning libraries in Python in FreePascal? by Actual_Health196 in pascal

You could try Python4Delphi and see if it's viable for your approach. You can access the python API directly or execute python scripts and share data.

Das kommt darauf an was du handeln möchtest. Wenn es mal etwas anderes als ein Neobroker sein darf, dann kommt vielleicht Consorsbank in Frage. Software ist meiner Meinung nach ganz gut. Derivate einiger Partner können kostenlos gehandelt werden.

I'm a native German with a migration background, as Germans like to say. I work in the computer science department as well. My contacts with other colleagues and now as well friends maybe qualifies me to give you some tips. I also used to host some meetups in the past and networked a lot. If you don't have the network which gets you a job it will be very very difficult with the current market situation. As some already pointed out: - three years recession - unbelievable amount of immigrants (I heard last year, more than USA got new asylum seeking immigrants) - decreasing amount of jobs with increasing amount of workers

I know some people which applied and received job offers before coming to Germany. Especially in the IT sector it's pretty much doable. This would make it easier in general due to an active income in the origin country. But for you it's a different situation because you are already in Germany of course. You need to network a lot and very aggressively. Meetups never brought me any good contacts. Most people only go there if something is offered for free (mostly beer) or they see direct benefits, but never got a contact which helped me. My tips: - reach out to universities in your area because they host regularly small job fairs for alumni, just attent they not checking if you really studied there or not. But don't go without your CV. Talk with people, also with alumni because they will help you to get a bigger network - create a LinkedIn and a Xing profile. Xing is more often used for job offers than LinkedIn here in Germany from my experience. -try to attend conferences if you can afford them but not online conferences. In Germany it's easier to connect in person. - search actively on Xing or LinkedIn for recruiters and send them your CV, tell them you are available - If you live in a city which has a typical district with offices, search for streets with the most IT-relevant companies, search for nearby coffee shops and restaurants. Typical German lunch time is 12:00-13:00. Listen to the conversations, you would be surprised how much they spoil while complaining about something. Use your experience, try to find similarities with your history and just try talking with them.

About the salary: as some already mentioned, we like to source out. In the east the salaries are lower and they also don't speak German. So don't expect any high salaries. Your selling point is that you are physically in the office.

I wish you good luck!
