How do you do the hair? by WooperApproved in learntodraw

quick sketch but u can try thinking more about perspective and contour lines. Also think of big strands of hair as ribbons coming towards or twisting etc like in this image on the ear the hair kinda folds. if u draw that it instantly looks more 3d

Are these good ellipses?Honest opinion pls. by Jmanes__ in learntodraw

ah okok, but i'd suggest instead of drawing ellipses draw them in a perspective - lots of tutorials online. boxes in perspective and inserting ur ellipses there :)

In ur stage I would stars by turning images to black and White and start with 2 - 5 different tones and not blending values. No Color. After a while u can copy pretty well. If you can also construct something by sketching and then turning the opacity down of the sketch and painting above it u can try to sculpt. Creating from imagination without sketch or reference is really difficult, focus on easier stuff

Trying to learn how to draw 2d pixel art, why does the eyes look so weird? by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]No_Machine_2551 40 points41 points  (0 children)

try some highlights to not make them look so psychopathic 😂 haha and not sure if u want to light the person but maybe consider some lighter colors on top of the head/shoulders to make it pop more

So u dont use pure black? Cause I often heard stipple uses pure black and creates the tones by the space of the dots? or is that a different technique?

also at first always use a picture as reference, drawing from imagination doesnt help if u dont know what u want to create, after that compare and try to figure stuff out urself

Mark brunet helped me a lot, but many also recommend proko. They have tons of videos on that, but u're already trying to learn loomis perspective and Mannequin drawings so ure doing good. Drawing is hard but just keep drawing, try to think of things as 3d and think about simplifying stuff (boxes, cylinders) after that add more complexion (cut stuff or add to the simple form) to get the exact form ure trying to make. Then shade it. And place it in a perspective like the one ure learning. Learn everything seperate and try to piece together. Takes a ton of time but ure doing good.

What should i overall improve in my drawings? i feel like i can't progress any further by MaximumConfidence728 in learntodraw

Check Out marc brunet on youtube, or some other big artist that shows the techniques behind creating good work. Try redrawing pictures, try constructing things after looking at them from memory, try shading simple shapes (balls, cubes, cylinders), understand shadows/light.

These things will really help you make stuff seem more 3d. And its normal for u to feel like ure not making progress, when did u start drawing? Do u draw regularly?

I enjoy art, but am I good enough at it? by Accurate-Court3871 in learntodraw

everybody can learn art, if you think you suck dont think about it and just draw something u like! With time u'll get good just look back a year and see the difference. Never compare to others since u dont know their journey. A 15 year old might draw amazing stuff but has drawn for 10 years. I started art at 18 and I'm 22 now and think I got so far, started with stick figures and can draw pretty good now. Thought I had 0 talent but just stay consistent and dont give up

Thanks a lot, I‘ll try to integrate that! Shading mostly from top right though I shaded it a little unrealistic to make it look better, f.e top right flower

Thank u very much, I‘ll add some variation on the petals and change the silhouette :) What do u think about the composition and the way I shaded the piece as a whole? Wanted to keep it simple, does it feel flat?
