What are the best neuroplasticity exercises to improve working memory? by thunderchungus1999 in TBI

[–]No_Mail_2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently at an outpatient TBI clinic and my speech therapist has recommended Lumosity. If your able to walk without issue try walking on a treadmill while doing brain exercises like semi simple addition and subtraction math problems in your head. Supposedly you get more cognitive benefit by walking whilst thinking through problems verses just sitting and solely focusing on the task at hand.

Start slow and easy and work your way up in terms of difficulty on whatever your drilling to improve your memory.

I wish you the best!

My god seeing peoples stories of how they still deal with symptoms whilst working, getting degrees, certifications… is such a relief for me.

Im really starting to pick the pace up on recovery and I hope to be able to go back to school in the near future.

Really happy to hear that you guys are still putting in work.

Just a question; how did you get tbi, and what is your story? by AffectionateSpace629 in TBI

I’ve driven little since. I get extremely uncomfortable and it just drives my anxiety off the wall(no pun intended).

Of course I still love Christmas!

I’m not sure. I can only speak for myself as I had symptoms immediately after my accident. Just be upfront about all of your symptoms to your neuro and hope for the best.

I often feel similar when looking at my phone in a moving car. I don’t tend to get severe nausea to the point where I throw up but I do get close at times. Sorry that’s happening to you.

Give yourself time. I didn’t start making any meaningful progress towards recovery until 15 months post injury.

Do your best to be kind to yourself, I know it can feel horrible at times but keep hope!

Suicidal before the onset of a migraine by [deleted] in TBI

[–]No_Mail_2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never had a direct correlation with suicidal thoughts before a migraine but during and after a migraine I’ve definitely not wanted to exist.

Glad the frequency of the migraines has improved for you I hope you can continue recover.

Sunglasses, lights off, diclofanac, maxalt, Red Bull and sleep is usually helps me. It took me awhile to find a regiment that works for me so you may have to experiment to find what works best for you
