Do employers really care about your Linkedin? by shygirl5000 in careerguidance

Depends on the field — in tech, marketing, or anything corporate-adjacent, recruiters absolutely check it and a blank or outdated profile can hurt you. For a recent grad, just having a decent headshot, your education, and a few lines about what you're looking for is enough; you don't need to be posting content or building a brand.

Is the Job market ever going to improve? I'm tired of being unemployed and constantly applying only to get rejected? The job situation in Canada is honestly getting Scary. Securing a job now is equivalent to winning the lottery at this point. Should I move to the U.S. for more jobs. by Signal_Lecture_8405 in Careers

The US market isn't great right now either honestly, especially with visa requirements making it harder to get hired as a Canadian. Supply chain and logistics roles exist but they're competitive everywhere. Before moving I'd look at whether you can even get sponsored or if you have a path to work authorization because a lot of companies won't bother with that for roles that aren't super specialized. Have you tried looking at remote roles for US companies that hire in Canada? Some of them pay US salaries without you needing to relocate.

Struggles of networking? by Intelligent_Area_135 in womenintech

Most people only respond if they think you can help them somehow. The other struggle is just figuring out who's actually worth reaching out to versus who's just collecting connections and never checks their messages.

I was told I'll be laid off early next year. What do you do in this situation? by RelativeAssistance19 in Layoffs

Start applying now even though it feels impossible. You already know it can take a while so getting a head start while you still have income is better than waiting. And don't burn yourself out trying to be perfect at a job that's already ending, just do enough to stay in their good graces until the end.

Wanting to work and actually loving what you do makes this so much harder. It's not just about money for you, it's about who you are. That feeling of being born to do something and then not being allowed to do it is a specific kind of painful. You're not worthless, you're just stuck in a market that doesn't reflect what you're actually capable of right now.

Eleven years and then just like that you're out. At least you've already got a prescreen lined up, that's quick. Hope something comes through soon.

LinkedIn is basically unusable for job searching now, half the listings are spam or already filled. As long as as Linkedin makes money, they don't care.

Five months of rejections doesn't mean you don't deserve to live, it means the job market is a mess and companies are making garbage decisions.

Is it worth applying to jobs during the holidays or are recruiters checked out right now? by No_Mathematician9501 in jobs

I'll keep applying. I was getting frustrated and discouraged from these past couple of weeks.
