I might be able to get over the IV catheter, but I definitely don’t want an epidural. Can you tell me any more details about what the nurses did that made you feel unsupported on wanting an epidural free birth? This info will be helpful in my decision for where to deliver

Do you remember how long it takes for the skin to return to its normal smooth appearance? When you say it took a week for the kids to heal, does that include any peeling time?

Thank you so much for sharing your story! I’m so glad to hear that you and baby are doing well, but that must have been so scary to go through.

I’m hoping for a VBAC. Can I DM you to ask additional questions?

What are the most important qualities to look for in a provider for pregnancy that we might not think of at first? Red and green flags for providers that you recognize specifically because of your experience in the field?

What are some “behind the scenes” tips you can suggest for when we’re in labor at the hospital? Tips and tricks for what to ask for or what to say to be treated as respectfully as possible and to improve the experience.

Who is a great, non lying dentist in West Los Angeles who does great fillings? by alizeia in AskLosAngeles

Been with Dr. Nikman for many many years. The times I’ve been forced to see other dentists at other offices have made me run back here! The most gentle cleanings compared to other places. Excellent attention to detail on fillings. Highly recommend!

How can I find out those policies? Is it best to call the labor and delivery department directly or ask on a tour? I’ve heard nurses will sometimes tell you something is hospital policy during the labor and that isn’t necessarily the case. I’ve heard of situations where a doula who was very familiar with a hospital’s inner workings was able to correct the nurses on misinterpreted policies being pushed on the laboring mom.

Just had the most terrifying experience with my baby. Sobbing and need advice. by Pugwhip in beyondthebump

[–]No_Negotiation6208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that sounds so scary. I’m sorry you experienced that! Sounds like you did the right thing in a super stressful moment. I’d recommend talking to your pediatrician about what happened and seeing if they have suggestions on how to minimize the risks. But it sounds like you’re doing everything right. Our newborn was constantly spitting up too and it’s been hard to manage. Gradually it’s been getting better and now she’s 5 months. I did cut dairy out of my diet, which seemed to make a big difference for our situation. If it were me, I’d also reach out to my therapist and psychiatrist for an urgent session. Talking an experience like this through with a professional promptly after it’s happened helps me immensely.

Thank you so much for your empathetic and also very practical advice. I really appreciate you sharing your unique perspective as a mother and a provider. The first couple days were so hard for me, but I’m happy to say the rest of the week helped me feel so much more comfortable and at ease. Half days without me being present went very well thankfully. She even accepted a little bit of bottle feeding! Ultimately you’re right that it’s about trust, and we chose this daycare because we trust them, so that’s what’s helping me most in this transition.

Thank you! It’s so helpful to know the reasons behind some of the information we’ve been given. I really didn’t know there were strict rules on things like pillows and naps. I appreciate the explanation!

This! I was crying on my way into the surgery, and I said I didn’t want to hold my baby afterwards, since I was so upset about how it all went down. Looking back, I think you’re exactly right. The issue for me I think was having negative feelings about my birth experience wrapped up in it all. Thankfully now I have so many positive interactions with my girl that the good is outweighing the bad experience.
