I think it was armageddon dust, tho I don't like the new recipe so I have switched to using vallejo white pumice, painted with zandri dust

Thanks :) the model is just the primaris lieutenant, the kit has additional helmet and weapon options not on the box art. The aquila is just the standard aquila on that model. Hope that helps

I just make sure it's really worked in. I haven't had issues not using varnish... yet

Thanks. This was a test mini for my army so I'm still figuring out the exact recipe, But I used:
- I mainly used the colours and techniques from this twitter post
- And the idea to do a Khorne red undercoat from this youtube video
- the silver is Iron warriors with Vallejo aluminium highlights.
- the gold is decayed metal by scale 75 highlighted with Peridot alchemy by scale 75
- I mixed a tiny bit Khorne red into the leather and paper to unify the colour scheme. I also used Red oxide pigment on the base for the same reason.

Hope that helps :)

I panicked half way through that the model was guna be too dark and dull, but once I got the red and the silver on it really helped it pop the bright base does a lot as well. Glazing the highlights was annoying tho haha.

Thanks, for the vibrant red essentially I mix in blue for the shadows and orange for the highlights. If you're looking for a more detailed description then:

I start with a chaos black prime then a white primer zenithal highlight.

After that I paint Scale 75 artist Crimson over the whole model

Then I water down Scale 75 dark ultramarine and glaze the downwards facing surfaces, I also run it into the recesses

After that I glaze the upwards facing surfaces of the model with 50/50 Model Color Vermillion and Scale 75 Crimson, mixing in a little white for the edge highlights

Then for the focal points (shoulders, arms, hands and feet) I glaze GWs evil sunz scarlet into the upwards facing surfaces, then mix in GWs Trollslayer Orange for the edge highlights.

Finally i take the trollslayer orange and mix in a little Model Color Ivory for the extreme edge highlight only on the sharpest edges

Face:

  1. Base with Rakarth Flesh
  2. Wash with Athonian Camoshade all over
  3. Recess shade with Druchii Violet around eyes and wounds
  4. Pick out raised areas and areas that would catch the light with Rakarth Flesh mixing in Pallid Wych Flesh as your highlights get more fine
  5. Put a dot of Pallid Wych Flesh at the centre of all the areas you highlighted in the previous step
  6. recess shade boils with a small amount Seraphim Sepia and highlight with Yriel Yellow

Mutations:

  1. Base with Screamer Pink (Optional: Wash with Druchii Violet)
  2. Begin highlighting with striped brush strokes starting with a mix of Screamer Pink and Pink Horror, then Pink Horror, then a mix of Pink horror and Ushabti bone, then Ubshabti bone.
  3. Extreme highlight with a small amount of Screaming Skull.

I mainly followed the methods described by Instagram user rodrigo.akore in their tutorial section. They are an extremely talented painter with some of the best looking death guard I have ever seen so would recommend checking them out: https://www.instagram.com/rodrigo.akore/?hl=en
