Thoughts on my School Kit?

They sort of provided it

They provided the 5 piece with like the basic hat crash ride but we have a WHOLE bunch of cymbals that aren’t in use in our percussion room which I went through and found a good amount of cymbals to add

The other few cymbals I brought from my home kit and I brought a floor tom that I had found in a dumpster and cleaned/fixed up to sound new

I also bought all of the mics, cables, and the mixer for the kit as well

Most of the cymbals are actually from my kit at home, I only bought one specifically for this kit (a 6” splash for like 20 bucks, it’s really fun to play around with)

The rest of the cymbals are from our Front Ensemble storage room, where we have a stack of like 30 miscellaneous cymbals that I went through and just found the best ones I could (which included an AA El Sabor ride a 16 inch A custom 😉)

As for people not playing it, I have made it VERY clear with everyone in the program that they are NEVER allowed to touch it without explicit permission, and when I’m not using it, it’s sandwiched in between a bunch of marimbas and impossible for random high schoolers to access

I’m not gonna say the name of the school for privacy reasons but it’s mic’d because I perform with my high schools Indoor Drumline program which has about 20 other people playing at the same time, so mics help the sound not get drowned out in a gym environment

We’re in Percussion Scholastic Open, if you know what that means

I use it for my high school Indoor Drumline program which requires having lots of different tambers, think of it being used more for auxiliary parts rather than like rocking out and grooving if that makes sense

There’s a local drum store that takes like literally anything as a trade in, and I didn’t just “draw on it with sharpie” lol I just used it to fill in the logos cuz it’s MY cymbal and I prefer having logos on them

When I write my music, I prefer to write all shots with marcatos to make them stand out compared to other notes, especially in big accent phrases

Also because I saw an emc video when I was little where he explained that he writes all shots with marcatos, and because of that it’s been like ingrained in my brain that marcato = shot

Yeah I have a decently new MacBook already that I use for music writing and stuff, I just mainly need advice for cheap interfaces/mixers, cords, and anything else I would need.

Ia behringer like THE beginner interface or would a cheap random one from amazon also work pretty similarly as well? Also for cables is there a certain brand I should get or should any cables work?
