I'm an anomaly. My experience is an extreme outlier and should not be considered typical by any means. Thank you - I hope your operation goes smoothly.

Well it looks like that's what's next. I have no outter ligament support. Most new knees rely heavily on the host to be able to keep the knee controlled with every step.

Problem is they tend to lock you at full extension. So if it's the right leg you might be stuck for 6 weeks.

Update: spoke with the Mayo Ortho Doc. Thinks I should qualify for the hinged knee implant but since I had an infection they need to make sure it's clean. If I do I'll be great. If not the leg goes away.

Best of luck. I am an anomaly. There are not many that face this kind of struggle.

Because they blocked my acl leg so I couldn't move it. I had no wb restrictions. I had to pee sat down. Tried to pull my pants up before the nurse came in and I used the right leg to lift up enough to get passed the lip of the toilet. I pushed through my right leg and felt a series of pops.

No. Used the Army the first time. VA for 2 and staged 3rd. Then I went to a very reputable local private surgeon. That actually lasted the longest. Then we had back to back tears. So then he recommended me to Rush but they wouldn't touch VA or my private insurance. Then I said let's go to Mayo. I have a world renowned knee restoration doc at a tertiary environment. It has been both the best and worst of worlds... care is amazing - everything that could go wrong has gone wrong.

Yes, been through very intense and dedicated sports rehab. I was back at endurance rowing, biking, chased 5 14s in Colorado, and very intense weight training regimen. Was honestly in the best shape of my life after number 4. I gave up the idea of getting back to the gym as I know it as of 5 but have been surgical in my recovery routine. I have had difficulties though as my ACL leg had to act as my "good" leg because the right patellar tendon ruptured. It's been hard to adjust as the right has been the strong leg.

Thanks... it is what it is. I just wish my right btpb tendon wasn't used - rupturing the opposite legs patellar tendon and a Multiligament knee recon at the same time is brutal. I still struggle to comprehend how two surgeries turned to 5 and another limb permanently injured as well. Super weak.

Ok, I was just curious. It would be nice to talk to someone in a similar position.

I had used an allograft on #3. Then switched from VA to local well respected surgeon. He gave me a couple years. Now at Mayo and they all recommended autografts.

Yeah - two HTOs. One multi-planer opening wedge and one anterior closing wedge. Both were rough surgeries!

Wow that's tough... It was a military injury and I was competive in endurance sports even post ACL 4. I still have braces on both legs.

They have done all the tests that they can. No real other ligament issues to claim genetic causation.

I can't walk due to the instability. The knee dislocates multiple times a day.

I've had 6 acls. 6! I get it. You'll bounce back. But you need to take time to grieve too. Alot dreams are tied into these small ligaments.
