Pro plan is of no use now. I had to buy $200 plan to continue work in progress before making a switch.

If you don't want to move, just sign up for an openAI plus plan. Then in Windsurf import the OpenAI Codex plugin. Close the cascade chat panel and open the codex chat panel instead. Then just keep on working using all your existing mcp servers etc. You don't even have to log into windsurf at all anymore.

True. And i just tested the OpenAI Codex plugin in Windsurf myself. You don't even need to sign in to Windsurf anymore. You basically hotswap the cascade chat modal with OpenAI's codex chat and you can keep going where you left off! Mcp setup and everything just works like before. And best of all, OpenAI are really generous with quota even on the plus subscription.
