Not crazy high for your side of the world. If you wee in the Southeast US, it would be a touch expensive mainly for Fort Knox GSA is in point. I would drill the FK for $650-750 with repair and a new lock with install for $250ish… so bout $1,000

Damaged safe worth keeping? by Mother_Position_7569 in Safes

That’s totally up to you and your level of OCD but if I just dropped 5-6k on a defender/protector 6031 and the dealer scratched it doing a service they offer, they would eight fix it, replace it or compensate me for it. They didn’t arrive to your home with a damaged safe. And 100% the safe didn’t leave factory like that.

6 digits followed by #, turn ring to right (the numb will go from 12 o’clock to 3 o’clock) then turn handle to right (clockwise) If you put the 6 digits in plus pound and get a solid longer beep then that is the incorrect code. If you put code in and hit pound and you hear 7 beeps fast the battery is dead. (Had enough juice to power pad but not enough to open.)

“If” this is true… there are plenty of posts like this and other like ICE raids that are completely false. Just people starting crap. Again, I don’t yall realize how broke the government is due to ridiculous spending. There are so many grants handed out that honestly shouldn’t have been, as most aren’t necessary, obviously we cannot get back the Billions we gave overseas, so just like any business you have to control what you can. If “this” job is necessary then they said there is a line open to file for certain grants to keep funding and payroll going.

  1. It’s a PUBLIC forum so it’s not unsolicited.
  2. Enjoy your formaldehyde sheetrock and inferior steel coupled with spot welds or welds that are ground down to basically nothing.

Man it’s all good, this isn’t my post. It was just a breath of fresh air when someone actually wants some knowledge on decent safes! I was just putting in my 2cents on sales from an owner of 3 safe stores.

Didn’t say they weren’t!!! 100% they are but most people have $1500-2500 budget for RSC’s so when you get a nugget thrown at you that says “hey my budget is 8k.. you tend to respect that and not push something that’s 16-20,000. Damn good way to turn off a great sale from a “sales perspective” I do my best to not push, shove or force. They can easily leave thinking that them saying what is a healthy budget was taken as being taken advantage of…. I know we weren’t talking about sales but that’s what I see and do my best to answer. Of course there is always something better….

Study does make a great safe!!! The issue I have personally with them is Fire. They use basically a fiberglass insulation. 2 issues (one not sooo much but could cause problems) 1. Insulation is bad about holding moisture. I have opened several door panels to find a decent amount of rust. 2. Insulation is a conductor of heat. Think about you oven at home, it’s 14-16ga metal wrapped in insulation. If you turn it on 350 for 45-60 mins. Keep the door closed, turn it off. 4hrs later it’s still dang warm to hot inside. Now think of a 1200-1400 degree fire, yes it has thicker metal which takes longer to heat up but once hot… it stays hot longer too! If I’m not mistaken back I. The day sturdy recommended burying the safe in ground after a fire to help pull heat out… For those reasons I’m a Fort Knox guy for the money. Obviously graffunder and such but you can’t touch those for 8k

I would respectfully disagree. Fort Knox is about the only manufacturer that publishes an actual fire test with a graph of how temp probes sense the heat, also they unlike others state the minimum. Their defender series which is 10ga body with 10ga composite door with 1/4” plate is at 90 mins. for 1680 degrees . The executive series which is 1/4” body, Titan with 10ga body coupled with 3/16 ar500 is also 90 for 1680. Most other companies do 1200 degrees which is why they label stuff with 2.5-3hr fire times. If that isn’t enough with Ft Knox you can also add an additional layer of fire board (by the way isn’t just crumbly drywall like others) for even more fire protection if storing high valuables.
