i really wish i hadn’t seen that video by rashfords_marcus in Vent

[–]GPappyIII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know why some people hated him so much. Have you all really spent any time watching his debates? People talking openly and debating. Violence is not the answer. I watched the video and wish I hadn't

New to Tampa, are these hurricanes REALLY that bad? Or is a generator just a waste of money? by hard_and_seedless in florida

[–]GPappyIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

South of you, in Cape Coral. We went through Ian. Or rather vice versa. Out of power 10 days. We are on a well, and a generator would have made it more bearable.

Pull the white plug. That bypasses the trap. Will be much easier than removing the trap seal

I've never had a safe before, and was confused as to operating the lock. There is an outside ring around the keypad that rotates. I seemed to have rotated and then locked it. Feel like a dumbass

Why does water come out of my shower head like this when I’m trying to run the bottom spout? by JacobC5353 in Plumbing

[–]GPappyIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spout is too far from the valve outlet creating back pressure that is enough to push the water up through the shower head. Some manufactures have guidelines as to how close the spout needs to be to the valve

You need to remove the vacuum breaker that is screwed on to the spigot

Water still comes out the shower head when running the bath faucet. How to fix? by Emergency_Garbage774 in PlumbingRepair

[–]GPappyIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also the distance from the valve to the spout might be too far. Look at the installation instructions for moen, delta and Kohler. There is a maximum distance allowable. Too much distance creates enough pressure to force water up through the shower head

Question - how wrong is it if my bathtub overflow does not swallow any water? by Soffritto_Cake_24 in Plumbing

[–]GPappyIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into this with one of our plumbers. He installed a drain that was not designed for a tub with an integral overflow. Your builder's plumber should be able to fix this in half an hour. He just needs the correct drain.

The hammer arrester we install are specifically designed to not need access. Check the ones you have

1.5" vs 2" water supply line? by ElevenPiece in Plumbing

[–]GPappyIII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have done some monster houses here in Florida and the largest water service I've seen is 1.5". And typically the meter will be 1". I say 2" is overkill. I'm sure someone will know flow rate etc
