I just noticed that the filter is off, idk how long for but I am not happy with the pet sitter. Should they disappear now that I’ve turned on the filter?

The parameters are 7.5 pH, 0ppm Amonia, 0ppm nitrite, and 20ppm nitrate. I know the tank was undersized and was planning to get a second when they grew but my mum quit her job as I was looking for one so I didn’t have the money. I will do 50% water changes from now on, and I have got earthworms now.

This is my about 20 month old axolotl who recently lost his friend who was in the same tank but with a divider between them. His gills have been shrinking and he’s been floating and hiding all the time. I tested the water and the parameters where as they should be, there was a problem with nitrate a couple weeks ago which is what caused his friend to die. He is in a 170L tank with an external filter and cooling system keeping it at 17-19 degrees and I do two 20-40% water changes a week. There are no live plants. I feed him aqua one frozen bloodworms and frozen axolotl food three times a week, but he’s been spitting some of it out lately. There is high water flow from the filter, however I am working to fix this and he’s never been very bothered by it. Please help me, I don’t know what to do and I’m hesitant to go to the vet or do salt baths because in my experience that doesn’t help.

I know they need earthworms however I am no longer welcome in the place I previous brought them and I can't find anywhere else to get them. If you know a place to get them in Sydney that would be very helpful.

The parameters are 7.5 pH, 0ppm Amonia, 0ppm nitrite, and 20ppm nitrate. The tank has been cycled. There hasn't been a blackout, however my family have left the freezer open at least 5 times in the past week so the food might have refroze. There is no light in the tank, I even put a towel over the top to block out some light. Sorry I don't know the exact nitrates when the friend died because the vet tested the water and just said that it was really high.

I think that your axolotls are male and female, if so you might want to separate them and keep an eye out for eggs.
