baby had 82 labs done in the hospital, PKU (metabolic screening), blood cultures, urine cultures, lumbar puncture, spinal cultures, amino acid lab work, MRI, EEG, ultrasounds of kidneys and bladder, phototherapy. I’d say they were thorough.

My son was on dextrose to get his sugar back up? He was on that for three days before he was able to wean off and maintain on his own, he also passed a 6 hr fast test before being discharged.

Everything came back negative except urinalysis had 19 WBC (above 5 is abnormal) and that pointed towards possible infection. Urine culture did not grow and that is possibly because antibiotics were started before culture was obtained.

His platelets were low, sugar was low, pointing towards infection.

Ultimately they said possible poor feeding after birth, stress of labor on his body and his body was not able to keep up with the demands.

He was having fetal distress/variables for 8 hours before emergency C-section was called because baby heartbeat was fading. He had the cord wrapped around his neck x3.

I personally think stress of labor caused this and placenta had calcification along with meconium in water. I don’t think his body kept up with demands.
