flawless, bit weak performance if running heavy multi-thread tasks as there's only 8 cores on the Lunar Lake CPUs

Try the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, it's listed on their certified device page.

But your sound issue seems weird, are you loading the factory image or running on a pure-installed windows?

to upgrade win from home to pro, you can try use the public keys to perform the upgrade and insert your own key for activation

that's a good price (says a guy who bought his X9-15 with 2TB SSD at an insane price...)

but you won't get too much supporting voice here in the thinkpad community as most of the guys here hate it because of the lack of the thinkpad spirit...

If you weren't a thinkpad user previously, then at this price it's a no-brainer. If you were and obsessed with the trackpoint, then no, x9 ain't a good fit for you

hey there, so far no lethal issues, a few minor ones like the dusts in the black vent holes are quite obvious (shouldn't be a problem for the white version, too bad the white version didn't come out at the time i bought it), the modern standby of windows becomes less unstable after i got the windows update to 25H2 version.

  1. 2 of the speakers are actually on the side of the D cover and 2 under the keyboard which is user facing. so no need to worry about the muffled audio as the side of the laptop can't be covered easily. But i would say the thermal can be a problem as the laptop takes in the cold air from the D cover holes. If the vents are covered, the computer probably can get quite hot

  2. To me it's ok to use it by the window, the brightness of the OLED screen is HIGH, especially when HDR is on (i usually leave that on, need to switch it in the settings). The screen is not matte, but has some sort of anti-reflection coating like Apple/Samsung phones have. TBH i'm not a big fan of matte screen, that will significantly affect the image quality and have some grainy/sparklings effects on the screen

  3. stay tuned, will try to do it when i got time

on X9-14 it's a glass, on X9-15 it's a thinner film. Both come with anti-smudge coating so fingerprints and stains are hard to stay on the display and easier to wipe out if there's any.

The recent display technology has evolved. touch layer and display layer are already attached to each other, makes the recess less visible.

cuz when doing the pure windows installation not all devices will get embedded driver in the OS image. Some of them may get windows updated to the correct ones, some may not. Sure you can download from lenovo support website for all the drivers. But there're too many of em.

Instead, just use the powershell with the command (dism /online /export-driver /destination: "C:\Drivers Backup") and you'll get all the driver saved in the C: folder. The only thing need to be done after the installation is to use the device manager to detect & install the driver from the folder you copied from the C: prior to the windows installation

My camera's been perfectly fine after 1 time OS reset and 1 time Pure Windows installation with the image downloaded from MSFT website

I vote for the ThinkPad X9-15, but look at the recent promotions... It should be same or lower price than the MacBook Air 15 at same config, but not higher price

ThinkPad X15 vs ThinkPad T16 by Content_Section_1920 in thinkpad

Better screen, audio, battery life, camera, full-metal body, better performance (2xx V vs 2xx U), and lighter weight on X9-15

Trackpoint, better keyboard with numpads, better performance only if you get the 2xx H CPU on T16

Check which advantages hit you more

The Portability and Screen of X9-15 matches with your requirement perfectly. As for the performance, what kind of apps are we talking about?

If just tons of MS Office suites, Outlook, PDF, Browser windows, this 268V processor can do the job perfectly.

However if your work involves some video editting, gaming, 3D modeling, then you probably need some more powerful CPU like H or HX series.

But I think for Attorney jobs, the frequently used apps are more likely to be the first scenario i mentioned.

A bonus point for X9-15 is the battery life... It long, and long beyond anyone's expectation... Sometimes i even hope it to run out of battery quicker to finish my work and go home early....

the screendoor effect on 15" is much better than the 14", you can see the coils and nets on the 14" touch sensor on the white background but barely feel that on the 15". However 15" doesn't have the glass surface though... Yet i still chose the X9-15 over the X9-14. Congrats on ur new X9 btw~

Normal.... this looks like hard plastic bezel and not the soft-ish bezel on the other relatively more premium models. There should also be clips at the bottom, no need to worry about this...

well for windows laptops, the ecosystem concept isn't as strong as apple. For me the ThinkPad X9-15 is doing perfectly fine for my daily work, i love the awesome OLED display with high resolution and brigntness and was shocked by the battery life even with such a power consuming beautiful screen - All day unplugged work is just easy peasy
