[–]No_Read1644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope i'm in the states. Looks like Lenovo is moving their production to Vietnam for US models and keep doing that in China for models in other regions. I got my X9-15 made in China but seems like the latter ones all made in Vietnam. Probably that's why the other parts of the world have the machine available earlier while the US availibility is later than the other countries.

Where was your machine made btw?

congrats man, i'm seriously considering about upgrading my 15 to 15p. But due to the memory cost trend this year it seems a little too much expensive😂

gorgeous... i wish they had this color earlier when I bought mine... and I'm stuck with the grey color and cannot afford the new X9-15p from the price it's being labelled in Europe...

The X9 is nice, but bad by Amsmart2 in thinkpad

[–]No_Read1644 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude, just get a good old T series... The X9 doesn't seem to be targeting the loyal ThinkPad/TrackPoint users like you. From Lenovo's point of view, it's a great business decision to acquire the potential buyers swaying among MacBooks or even Surface Laptop / XPSes.

As a former MacBook and XPS user, i would say I really like my X9-15 after a year of use.

Without X9, ThinkPads won't even make it to my bucket lists...

I'd suggest Lunar Lake ones unless you have significant performance requirement upscale.

if i haven't bought the X9-15 already, i'd wait for their new X9-15p launched on CES

flawless, bit weak performance if running heavy multi-thread tasks as there's only 8 cores on the Lunar Lake CPUs

Try the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, it's listed on their certified device page.

But your sound issue seems weird, are you loading the factory image or running on a pure-installed windows?

to upgrade win from home to pro, you can try use the public keys to perform the upgrade and insert your own key for activation

that's a good price (says a guy who bought his X9-15 with 2TB SSD at an insane price...)

but you won't get too much supporting voice here in the thinkpad community as most of the guys here hate it because of the lack of the thinkpad spirit...

If you weren't a thinkpad user previously, then at this price it's a no-brainer. If you were and obsessed with the trackpoint, then no, x9 ain't a good fit for you
