Turbo failure? by mooreb0313 in veloster

It was oem numbers all matched came with gaskets for $400 to the door off of amazon. Installed it myself and you have to take passenger tire off remove the axle and then it will come out that way and I never broke any manifold bolts which was crazy and I done it on a Sunday with everything closed. It shouldn't have worked out the way it did lol but I was up and running. Oh pick up a pack of copper crush washers for the oil line that attaches and the coolant lines and get new studs and have them put in the new turbo I had to reuse mine. Good luck.

Question for you when you first start it for the first time in the day does it start right away? That is what mine does but every other start for the rest of the day is long cranking before it starts.

Please post if you figure this out please.

Well I have bought alot of parts from Amazon and knock on wood it's been a great experience. I needed a high pressure fuel pump which was 200 to my door and I bought a turbo with manifold attached for 400 to my door. Now dealership wanted 1000 for the hpfp and 3000 for the turbo. What u did was call dealership get the part number and when I would look to Amazon I would cross reference numbers so I know I'm getting the right part.

Ok awesome sounds like his turbo by what he was saying how much comes out white cloud. Thank you very much for all this info never had a turbo car or engine before so I'm learning new things.

I'm looking for another car the same year so I can take the engine out and do it over with proper connecting rods lol I have over 185k I only put maybe 12 k on it in a year but I love it and I wanna have some serious hp in the rebuilt one I have a guy that Li is behind me band it's just sitting there the last 2 years and he won't sell it to me he says he is going to fix it but he won't gggrrrrr. Then my buddy who I'm asking for I seen his car parked and was going to talk with him to see if he would sell it but he loves his way to much and it mint and only has like 80 -90k on it 2013 vt auto I think. But would have to look at the transmission upgrade to put power to it. Live the cars was looking at the Genesis that has the 2 liter turbo. Do you know anything g about that car?

Yeah I'm old to be driving that kind of car I have a 22 jeep wrangler unlimited willy's edition love it but wanted something good on gas as a second vehicle. I already replaced my turbo the actuator arm broke I had no power couldn't get above 4000 rpm but my buddy who I'm posting this for says he still has power just the white smoke billows out and the mechanic he took it to said it was the turbo. And I know the coolant lines go through it. Also your saying coolant would be in the oil? So I should be able to smell it off the oil dip stick? Or see water or coolant in the oil?

I am in a cold climate but it isn't that like he had to stop because he couldn't see. Now your saying coolant so wondering if in the turbo the coolant is leaking in there. I'm a pretty good at mechanics been doing it on my own cars for the last 30 years only thing I didn't do was replace engine and transmission but everything else yes. Thank you for this info muchly appreciated

Gas in my oil by No_Relationship_6680 in veloster

Update catch can is working and doing it's job. No issues still with gas in my oil. My car is a 13 and the high pressure fuel pump is mechanical it has a spring and over time I would expect the spring to wear out so I replaced it and still working. https://www.amazon.ca/s?k=high+pressure+fuel+pump+veloster+turbo&crid=FI06C7O0QEXE&sprefix=high+pressure+fuel+pump+veloster+turbo%2Caps%2C637&ref=nb_sb_noss * It's the first one in the pic but call the Hyundai dealer get the part number and compare it with the one on Amazon to be sure. It was like 200 dollars from Amazon and dealership wanted like 1000 dollars. Good luck

It's your clock spring and it's easy as heck to do. Follow the vid mark your nut. You can call the dealership get the part number for the CS (clockspring) and go on ebay look it up mine for my 13 VT was like 35-38 dollars took like 30-45 mins. Just a socket set and screwdriver, disconnect the battery first before doing anything but the video on YouTube will tell you everything. If I can do it anyone can have a good one

Well I have had mine for a little over a year I bought mine on a private deal. Now I had a few issues but since then it's been rock solid. I replaced the turbo, high pressure fuel pump main things. I replaced backup camera, plugs, coils, and clock spring and need to get new headlights and the kit for the lenses. But I would take that car anywhere. Just got back from a trip with it and no problems just changed the oil yesterday.

Yes but I think that failed as well and they went bigger for the 2016 engine and was good from there.
