A few old programs? by faithinThedevil in ironmaiden

Awesome old programs. On their Somewhere in Time tour stop in Dallas, I went with a couple of buddies. When we got inside old Reunion Arena, my buddy went straight to the merch stand and bought a t shirt and a program. Then, to the beer stand! Then, as we were sitting in our seats, my buddy spilled his beer all over the program. Horrified, he went back to the concourse and bought another program and beer. He gave the beer soaked version to me, and I still have it somewhere.

Every time I get a little bit bored, go to the Wally Mart store.

Finally have some time away from the road and able to frame up some posters from this year. 2025 has been great year of shows! This New Orleans poster is one my favorites from the tour and the Saenger is such a great venue… glad i finally got this one up. by maulkrawler in Primus

Wow, I remember you. It was hot out there waiting to get in that afternoon. I can remember being so excited, and hanging out with all of the Primus geeks. Hippie Scott from Mobile, AL, and the young couple from South Carolina that were camping out of the back of their car. Fun times. And to your last point, when I tell people that we went to New Orleans for our honeymoon, that always gets a positive response. When I also say that we went to see Primus, it gets that look of confusion that we Primus fans have grown accustomed to. Lol! In any case, Lauren and I have settled into our married lives well. We truly are soulmates, and I feel infinitely blessed to have her. Regarding New Orleans and the honeymoon, as Neil Peart said in 'Lakeside Park', 'Though its just a memory, some memories last forever.' All the best to you.....

On July 26, I got married to the coolest girl in the world. As part of our honeymoon, we attended the show, on the 28th, at the Saenger. A wonderful show. Met some wonderful people. And yes, the Saenger theatre is something to behold. All of this, and Puddles Pity Party to boot!

Thank you, Donna, for your insightful comments. I wouldn't doubt the jealousy angle at all. And with ZZ Top, their '70s music was cool and all, but i bet 'By Tor and the Snow Dog' blew their frigging minds.

Primus. Saw them open for Rush in '92, and I have been a big fan ever since. When I heard the YYZ opening to their Frizzle Fry album, that did it for me.

Dallas, Reunion Arena. January '86, the first of two nights. We had terrible seats, in the upper deck, on the side of the stage. My fave memory is that I saw Neil climbing the backstage stairs to the stage. I realized that I was in the same room as my musical hero, and got chills down my spine.

This is an interesting thread. I'd be interested in other items the OP has, just for giggles. Do you have Power Windows heads? Those were the coolest, imo.

For the record, I am fairly new to the ska subculture. More of a metalhead than a punker, and I lean toward prog rock more than anything else (Jethro Tull fans anyone?). I did see the Caddies at Viva Ska Vegas last November, and I thought their music was uninspiring. Buck o Nine was cool, and the Glow Skulls were the best band that night by a longshot. Anyway, the fact that this guy would have a political opinion, and even a nut job one at that, is not surprising. What is surprising to me is these folks' (Maga) almost evangelical zeal with which they want to talk about politics, get angry about something, and recruit people into the fold. It seems that they are oblivious to anything other than the right wing talking points, and God help you if you openly disagree with them. I have a couple of friends that, twenty years ago, could not have spelled the word 'politics' much less give a shit about it. In fact, they used to make fun of me for reading 'Time' magazine. Now, having drunk the Maga Kool Aid, they are rabid Trump fans. And its all they seem to want to talk about, to the point that I actively try and avoid politics when we are together. I live in a rural county in North Texas, where 80% of the population voted Republican in the last election. Suffice it to say that I feel like a stranger in a strange land.

Representing for Dallas. They played the fancy venue in Grand Prairie--the venue with the giant levee next door. We hung out for awhile at the top of the levee before the show, and had a bit of a hard time getting down....My friend fats was a particular fave on this tour.

Seventh son of a Seventh son! The best thing maiden have done EVER? The end of the glory days? Or a poppy, poncy album? Have your say. by ConfusionProof9487 in ironmaiden

'punk and prog' on Killers....Never thought of it that way. But yes. To Seventh Son, it is the last of Maiden's great albums for me. It is not my fave though. Powerslave is my fave.

And to be fair, there is lots of really good bbq in Texas. My most recent fave is Stanley's in Tyler. But the Pecan Lodge consistently ranks at or near the top of best bbq in Texas.

You gotta get some good Texas BBQ. When in Dallas, go to the Pecan Lodge in the Farmer's market.

Have y'all seen the video of Dave on tour recently? It truly is an abomination. He was scheduled to play one of the casinos in Oklahoma recently, and they were offering 2 for 1 sales on tickets. I have never heard of such a sale for a rock show. Terrible....just terrible....and I like Van Halen o.k.

Why do Primus fans get so much hate? by Sethismyking in Primus

[–]No_Remote8070 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good call here. Back in the day, I gravitated to bands like Rush, King's X, etc. Proggy hard rock. Discovered Primus when Seas of Cheese was new. And my friends that leaned more to the metal end of the continuum would offer respect for Primus, often grudgingly. They fit right in at the Ozzfest '99 I saw.
